From the Oliva Website: Serie V is a complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos. Blended with specially fermented Jalapa Valley Ligero, and finished with a high priming Habano Sun Grown Wrapper.

I was gifted this cigar from a brother here at CP. I found it interesting, although I did not know a whole lot about the V serie. It was not until I was also generously given a Churchill that I smoked yesterday and enjoyed immensely, that I wanted to know more. Thinking how much I like Lanceros because the wrapper flavor seems to be more prominent, I could not wait to try this one out today.
This specimen was a very nice looking cigar. The construction was near perfect, with a nicely finished Cuban style triple cap. It had a dark chocolate brown wrapper that smelled really nice.

I tried to just score and lift the cap, but the test draw seemed a bit tight. After toasting the foot and lighting, the draw proved to definitely be too tight. It was not until I gave it the more traditional cut with my Xikar that the draw seemed near perfect.
My taste buds were rewarded with rich complex flavors of coffee, and chocolate, with a hint of pepper and other spices that I am not experienced enough to identify.
The burn was almost perfect with minimal touch ups, a flakey white ash, and no relights needed. I paired this smoke with a Stone Smoked Porter that complimented this cigar in a way that is hard to describe. I think it would also go well with coffee, and would like to try that the next time I enjoy one of these.
The last three inches of this Lancero showed it's youth with just a touch of Ammonia peeking through. Not enough to make it so that it was not enjoyable, just not as good as the first three quarters.
My overall impression of this cigar is that most would really enjoy it and the V serie overall. With some down time, you will not be able to beat these for five or six dollars each.

Edit to add smoke time.

Thanks for sharing the experience bro. I was looking for these last night at my b&m but settled for the O. First Oliva I've had but I wasn't that impressed. Look forward to trying the V now. Love them sun grown wraps. :)

This cigar is quickly climbing the charts IMO. I have had three of them now, and I just can't find anything close to the price to beat it. I haven't had the lancero yet, but will have to pick one up at the B&M now.

Thanks for the review and pics! Haven't tried the lancero myself, but have had a couple of the other sizes and I agree with most everyone that its a good cigar that will do well after some good "settle down" time. Problem is.... I can't wait to smoke em :whistling: .

I love em' . Thanks for the great review John! Have you tried any of the other vitolas?

Once again a fantastic review John, I picked up a few of the V in different sizes during the Euro-herf IV and I am still waiting for them to rest a week or two more before trying. You just gave me something to look forward to.

The habano-seed 'O' is also a great cigar, that everyone should try at least once.

I just had a robusto size with little to no age on it and found it to be a very spicy cigar. Not peppery, but fermented spicy like a GOF. It was pretty good, but I am not really into spicy cigars.

Very nice pictures! I will probably pick up some of these today along with the belicoso.
