So I am not new to Cigar smoking I have been doing it for years but I always buy a few for the week and stick them in Tupperware with some beads. This last week my grandmother gave me a porcelain jar I was told my grandfather kept his cigars in for years and years. Still smells like his cigars it makes me tear up knowing she wanted me to have it. So now to keep the old guys legacy going I am looking to fill it with cigars. I don’t see where I would have a problem with using it he did for as long as I can remember.
Now my question is: it completely air tight it actually has a latch on it and rubber seal kind of looks like this

but larger maybe 10 inch across the mouth and about 12 inch deep its solid white porcelain and well I would like the memory of the old guy alive. So I know I should get some Beads for it to keep the humidity at 65 and I will have to pick up a digital hydrometer should I put a peace of cedar in the bottom of the jar? What would you all do in my case? Thank you all so much for the info this place has taught me a lot and I look forward to what you all have to say. Rp

Also what are some Classic cigars to put in there in his Memory I know he use to smoke Indian Tobacco Company Cigars maybe a few of them would do.

As long as the seal is tight, there shouldn't be a problem. There's some cigars today that are sold in jars. Tatuaje Black comes to mind as a recent offering.

I don't know if it would be necessary to buy another hygrometer just for the jar. It's a small space, you've been using beads in your other storage, maybe just put a hygro you have in the jar in the beginning to test the seal. But, personally, I think in such a small space, it would take up valuable cigar space.

As far as what smokes to put in there... you said he smoked ITC, so put a couple of those in there, and a couple of your favorites as well.

Awesome thanks for the info there is room on the lid to stick something without looking cigar space so a meter would not do that much harm maybe a credo stuck to the lid would work thanks for the info rp

I would not worry too much about the hrgrometer like Tom said.

Maybe if you want, just for grins and ha ha's...........Get one of the small Boveda 65% humidity packs and throw it in there with your smokes. You'll be able to tell when it starts to get dry. The one in my Tat Black jar still feels new.
