I tried searching this but couldn't seem to find anything...maybe I wasn't searching the correct topic?

In any case...it seems that my Nub maduros have left a slight oily sheen on the bottom of my humidor. I was wondering if there is any drawback to this or if anyone else has experienced the same from other maduro cigars?

Thanks!

This is why you should keep Maduro and Natural wrappers separate. Keeping the cello on helps too.

Think about it, if Maduro oils can penetrate the hard cedar lining of a humidor, surely they can infiltrate the porous surface of that crystal clear Connecticut Shade Grown wrapper.

I do have a thin sheet of cedar in between the Nubs and everything else, and it is an ever so slight sheen, not a bad stain, i just noticed that it was there. hopefully it doesnt ruin anything!

I have just never had a cigars stain my humi I guess or at least that I have noticed. I keep mine a bit dry though. Bluue, what humidity do you keep yours at?

Meh, I don't care all that much if the flavors mix a bit. Most of the stuff I really care about is still in their boxes.

Hrmmm... I guess this means the nubs are probably dyed in some fashion then huh? I'm going to check it out next time I'm in my humi. I have a nub maduro sitting in one of the boxes. I hear you can lick your finger and rub the wrapper to see if it's been stained.

Either to high of humidity or Nub is up to something (which I doubt).

I do think that it might have been too high RH. Like I had stated in another post in this forum, I was having troubles with excessive RH levels and my humi-care crystal gel humidification unit. I did have a few wrappers split on me :( I've removed it and am currently using the sponge humi until I can pick up some heartfelt beads. So that was just a long winded way of saying, yeah, prob too high RH level. It is sitting nicely at 69% now so, hopefully it doesnt get worse. Thanks for the insight, everyone!
