Alright guys, it's summer time, and well, that's almost over. Mosquitoes are out in full force and there's some bleeding to be had. Anyone up for a BBQ? My associate and I are thinking of having it at this park right off the Southern State PKWY, Hempstead Lake State Park I believe it's called.

Linky for some info on the park. My associate and I drove through it once and it seemed nice, a good place for the children if you plan on bringing any (no questions asked ;) ) , there's a lake you might be able to do some fishing, some tennis and basketball courts, parking seems inexpensive, and there is a picnic area and a playground for the little ones.

My associate and I are primarily thinking of only using the BBQ grills, so any extracurricular activities you want to do as of now are organized independently by your lonesome selves until such time as my associate and I feel has enough interest to incorporate it into our to do list.

Anyone who can make it interested?

edit - whoops, totally forgot the date, thanks Scott. August 25th is the proposed date.

Your associate (said 3 times)? Whadrya, a wise guy ???

Sounds good but I think I'll be Bar-B-Qued out from the herf in WVA on the 17-18-19. Good luck!

It is a cool park, and a nice place for the kids. The carousel should be up and running, which could keep them busy for a little while.

This place is right down the road, and I would LOVE to meet up with you guys, but the 25th is just no good, depending on how late you guys are going to be out and about. I have 2 kids birthday parties that day, So I'm spoken for probably until around sundown.

At which point, of course, I'll be looking to kick back with a smoke and a drink or 5.

Ok, time for a bit more info.

Time: 1pm - sunset (when the park closes or they kick us out. If you need a ballpark time, around 9pm)

Food: the staple BBQ dishes of burgers and hot dogs, and some extra goodies such as pineapples, apples, watermelon, chips, and of course Italian sausages. If you wish to bring something, please feel free to do so.

Drinks: Soda, diet soda, water, and maybe some beer in a bag ;) . If you wish to bring refreshing alcoholic beverages (it being a State Park and all) please be discreet and brown bag it or pour it into a cup.

Yes, cups, plates, napkins, forks, knives, and ice will be provided.

And for those of you who are concerned about the associate thing, I assure you there are no mob interests tied with this event. It's just me in a failed attempt to be witty.

Any concerns you have or if you're interested in coming, post here, or pm me.

Alright guys, I know some of you want to come. Now's the time for the final headcount so we know how many weenies we are getting. Did I mention free food? Let me know by Friday night.

Sorry guys, I can't get to this one. We are going to see Monty Python's Spamalot at the Shubert Theater tomorow.

Hope that y'all have a great time!!

Lou
