Well,
I broke down and picked this up yesterday!!! Now, I just have to get busy and fill that damn thing!!! :thumbs:
I've searched around and read a bit... but does anyone have any advice, or tips to help me get this set up!!!
I did the bleach and water in it last night, and will let it dry today in the sun!

Now follow up with the baking soda o/night and then prepare the RH. If you are using beads it's easy (if you don't have beads - get them!). Wait until it stabilizes at 65 RH (or 70 if that's your choice) and away you go.

Some people put cedar racks and/or line it with cedar. Personally I don't think it is necessary if you are storing boxes.

If you used bleach / water to get rid of the plastic smell, be sure to rinse and rinse and rinse. Did I mention rinse? Put your nose against the plastic and if you can smell bleach at all, you need to rinse some more. I did what a chemist buddy of mine suggested - a very hot water rinse. He explained that will open the pores in the plastic just a bit and allow the chemicals to outgas a little. Worked great for me, though the Coleman's I have actually weren't that bad to begin with.

Coolers need little to no time to stabilize; unlike a humidor made our of wood, plastic isn't going to require any time to "season" because it won't retain moisture. Some guys choose to line their coolers with spanish cedar; I haven't. I just keep my gars in cedar boxes and that seems to work great. If you need extra boxes, most local B&M's will sell them to you cheap if not give them to you outright. Maximizes the internal storage room that way. Half a pound of beads and a hygro and you should be all set... :thumbs:

Nice price. I use a couple of the blue Coleman 48qt for my storage. Definitely use baking soda and a little dish soap. Rinse well, humidify and away you go. I don't go out of my way to get cedar liner. I just stuff in the loose sheets and parts from used cigar boxes.
