No thanks... I like to chew on them...

I certainly hope he wasn't implying that older people are dick-heads. Otherwise I guess I missed something too.

Doc.

I have heard that licking the wrapper ensures it stays on but also helps promote an even burn??? my cigars burn fine w/o licking them!

DD is right, also I’ve seen my grand father doing it, as a habit because back in the day when he was in the war allot of the time the guys had to roll there own cigarettes or cigars. Then when they would revisit them they would lick them again to make sure the wrapper stays firm. It was a habit for him.

As a little boy, I can remember my grandpa doing the same thing (licking his cigars before smoking). But - in those days, a lot of guys kept their 'gars in the box they came in, in the desk drawer. As has been said, there have been some pretty significant advances in the ability to humidify and monitor same.

I got the "attitude" when I started visiting a local B&M. Got the "...who the ^%$#@#!!! is this long hair..." looks. I just smiled and asked if they had any Padron Annivarsary smokes. The looks started to change a bit....bought a bunch and headed to their attached lounge and blazed up a '26. Believe it or not the "old guys" more or less followed me in. I said "...grab a beer and pull up a chair, guys..." and the ice started to melt. I guess they realized there is a lot of grey in that long hair.... :p Before I left, one of them clued me in the fact that the shop would put their Holiday OpusX's on sale the next day, and I ended up waiting in line with a couple of the very same guys the next AM.

But, I hear what you are saying, Rod....there are folks out there that "know everything" and don't want to hear otherwise. As Elvis Costollo said so well; "...I used to be disgusted, now I'm just amused...."

Cheers - B.B.S.
