Are there vast differences between the two? I think most of the cigars I smoke are Dominican, but I had a My Father and a Padron and I fully enjoyed both of them (both Nicaraguan I believe).

Well... sorta. Typical cigar profiles from different countries can be jammed into categories if you like, but the truth is cigars from all over can taste as varied as you like. It depends on your palette, the manufacturer and your mood.

Get to trying as many as you can, and you will form your own opinion with the ammunition provided by experience.

I only ask because a few weeks ago at a B&M the guy asked if I typically liked the Dominican cigars. I said I have no idea, because, as you said, I thought it depends on manufacturer, etc. Could you say that in general there are differences between them?

I think the general stereotype for these are that Domincans tend to be a little milder, and creamier (i.e. Davidoff, base line Fuentes, Avos), and Nicaraguan's tend to be stronger, more powerful. Obviously there are cigars from every region that fit into each category, but I think that is the general perception.

I think the general stereotype for these are that Domincans tend to be a little shorter, and skinnier (i.e. Chachi the Local Watermelon Boy), and Nicaraguan's tend to be stronger, and more powerful, especially in a fight with street rules. Obviously there are people from every region that fit into each category, but I think that is the general perception.

Wow, way to bring race into this Brent. Im surprised that this is coming from you... Post reported to Rod.
