So I was sent this fine smoke in a bomb from a fine BOTL and fellow chat whore, who suggest I write a review if I felt so inclined, and I do.
Manufacturer: A. Fuente
Type: Hemingway Between the Lines
Year: 2005
Pre-light:
I LOVE how these sticks look. Between the barber-pole wrapper and the shape it's really just great to look at. Upon pulling it out of the cello, closer inspection reveals near perfect construction, with only a few minor flaws in the wrapper. It smells like I would expect, high quality tobacco.
Light:
Lighting this baby is easy, slight toast of the nipple and away it goes. Got a bit of grassy flavor from the first few draws, which has settles into a kind of earthy tobacco taste. Right from the start I'm getting a LOT of pure white smoke, this is gonna great!
First third:
There's still some grassyness to it, with some chocolate flavor coming in as the burn nears the thickest point on the cigar. Had to do a slight touch up to even the burn a little, it had started to burn uneven as it crested the hill so to speak. The burn issue has corrected itself(almost at the end of the first third) and it's burning like a razer sharp line drawn by a 3 year old while off roading(mostly straight with a few bumbs, probably due to the double wrappers). Still getting a high volume of white smoke even with the slightest draw, it's burning a little hot so I need to slow down on the puffs, heh. There's a lot of great tobacco flavor coming through, still with the slightest grassyness and some chocolate.
Second third:
Still getting the grassyness, with a nice chocolate cake kind of aftertaste, although that might be affected by the pepsi I'm drinking
The burn is steal a nice mostly even line, just ashed it and theres a very nicely shaped cone of an ember.
Final third:
Getting a bit harsh here, probably time for a purge. Still getting a lot of great tobacco flavor, lots of smoke. The chocolate after taste has kind of faded. As it burns down it's starting to develop a bit of spicyness, which I rather like. Getting down into the last inch or so the grass flavor has finally gone, At this point I suggest you take a break from this review and watch this video: http://break.com/index/hilarious-balloon-launch-failure.html it's rather hilarious.
As I set this cigar into my water logged ash tray(it's really a bowl that I accidentally left out in the rain), I'd just like to thank the person who sent me this stick(a long with a few other very fine smokes that I've enjoyed) and the community for allowing this all to happen.
In closing:
