I have a friend that is interested in trying out cigars. The problem that I have is recommending one that will not disappoint him but will not be so strong it knocks him down.

Recommendations anyone?

Don't give him a Joya de Nicaragua or Onyx!. Start 'em out slowly with an EMS cigar.

Give 'em a Padron....try the 2000. Nice and mild, but tasty too..one of my early favorites.

Of course, you have the default noob smoke...a Macanudo. Gotta say I wasn't too impressed when I tried one as my first smoke.

Maybe point him in the direction of Don Diego. My best friend got his start there thanks to me and he still loves them.

Start him off like so many of us started. Macanudo.

I second this. You cannot go wrong with an Ashton. Regular line, no VSG's. An absolutely perfect beginner's cigar, and one that I still love from time to time.

Also, to have him try one of the creamiest cigars I've found - Zino Mouton Cadet.

Cuesta-Rey and any of the Fuente Green Bands, especially the 858 natural.

I second Bill's opinion, and I want to add an AF SS or WOA
