Well I just got my first Humi in abot a month ago. I immediately filled it with the 50/50 solution and waited 2 weeks. The hygrometer read about 90 so I decided to get a digital one so I could test it to see if it was ok. Its about a 100 ct himidor by the way. So I decided to pick up a puck 50 65% since the 7% sale was on. I had the new hygrometer and puck in for a week and the thing read 65% so I decided to load in my sticks from the 15 dollar CI free humi deal. Well abot a week has gone by and the reading is about 66% so I figured no big deal. I took out a stick and it felt a bit stiff to the touch. I decided to test it out and it lit and tasted ok but Im afraid if I wait another week the whole stash will be bad. I always get my sticks from the store and smoke them day of but now with the humidor I'm not used to the freshness feel. Is there anything that I can do to ensure that my stash won't go bad or do I just have to wait and see? TIA for your help.

Mumidors.

You need to test your hygrometer. You can do the oft mentioned salt test or just buy one of those Fuente humidor bags, put the hygrometer in there and see if it's close. But, your sticks should feel less mushy at 65% than 90%, which is a good thing...

Don't become a humidity watching nut.. Test the Hygrometer to make sure its giving you the correct reading as stated in "TYFNS" post. Humidipak has a calibration kit which works great for digital equipment also.

With time you'll find that certain sticks smoke better at different RH.. If your using the Puck which has beads, you can not use the 50/50 solution. Nothing but Distilled H2O should be used. Its only takes a small amount of Distilled H2O to charge the beads..
65% is right where you want to be. The cigar smoked good right?

It sounds like you seasoned OK to me.

I heard a story this weekend from an experienced rep from La Aurora during a rolling event at a local. He said he DUMPS water in the bottom of new humis and then spreads it all over the cedar surface with a fresh rag! A radical version of the "wipe it down" school of seasoning. He then lets it dry some until RH is target(couple days) and then voila!

I don't know about you but I couldn't get myself to dump it! :D

I did that very thing with a cheapie humidor i got off ebay. It's one of those "150" count three level display humidors with the door. With acrylic (read plastic) sides. I love the humi even if it is cheap. The RH swings from 70-73% daily which is no big deal so it holds humidity ok.

Anyway I put water in the humidifer that came with it and it never moved off of 49% so I put in a salsa dish of water and it moved slowly to 61% then back down so I dumped the dish in the bottom of the humi and moved it around with my a rag, then refilled the dish and it moved to 72%. Removed the dish and it's been good ever since. I wouldn't necessarily try this with a super nice desktop as the door to my humi did stick for about 3 days until the moisture was fully absorbed in the wood (i.e. no dark stain) but it did work and it holds humidity. People get way to wigged out about humidity and how to get it. If what you do gets the RH where you want it and the box doesn't crack in two who cares? I like my smokes a tad spongy at 71% but I will let this batch dry down to 65% and leave it there in time.

Wow, dumping water into your 'dor! :0 Sounds radical to me. I know some who recommend not even wipping down the inside because it could cause the grain to raise. I'm somewhere in the middle, I always wiped down the inside of a new 'dor with a cloth slightly moisten with DI, but did not saturate the wood. Never notice any negative effects and it removes any dust/dirt (not that the 'dor should be that dusty/dirty  ).
