I'm new to smoking cigars, and after a quick google for forums this looked like a good place :)

I've been bouncing emails back and forth to a local supplier here in NZ (the country is south of australia somwhere) and he's come up with the following as a sampler

Montecristo No.3
Fonseca Delicias
Bolivar No. 1
Romeo No. 1
Partagas Corona

Do they look any good? I recognise some of the brands (montecristo, RYJ), but have no idea beyond that.

Also, how well will they keep outside a humidor? If i seal them in a tupperware container or a plastic bag will they be ok for a week or so?

Any comments are appreciated :)

I'd scrap the Delicias; nice little smoke, but not a great intro. See if he'll go with a RyJ Exibicion #4, Bolivar Belicoso Fino, and a Partagas Serie D #4 instead of the ones he's chosen. Also a small Cuaba in place of the Fonseca, or maybe a San Cristobal de la Habana.

Have fun, and keep posting here. We'd love to hear your thoughts after you've tried these! (Ummm, my suggestions may up the price a bit, but I think it would be worth it.)

And hey, post an intro in the lobby if you haven't already done so! :D :D Welcome!

I'd see if you can get a Cohiba from him as well. Maybe a Robusto or Siglo III. You must try a Cohiba. You must :D

Welcome to CP

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I've more or less stuck with what he suggested, cigars are about 2x as expensive here as they are in the US, so budget would have become an issue if i'd added anymore.

I cant wait till they arrive :D

Ignore Lucasbuck. We love him, but he's a little deranged on the subject of Cohibaaaahs. :sign:

You might try looking further afield for vendors, i.e. on that big island/continent that's your next door neighbor. (OK, my geography's a little shaky, maybe their a bit further away than a neighbor. ;) )
