Here are some pics. I think you are right though, I think the El Jocko is what this is.

Yes, El Jocko Maduro....they are pretty common. Now that you know what it is...it'll be pretty easy to come up with the price.

The pass arrived yesterday, but due to my grandfathers 80th birthday dinner running late into the night, I didn't have a chance to get to it till today. Everything is in excellent shape and accounted for. Made my P/T's and everything is back in the box.

Paul, how do you want to handle the trade off? Let me know.

Have a great thanksgiving guys!

First 2 are good. There are some issues with the third...rarity comes into play. Let's have you guys talk it out, come up with questions...then I'll weigh in.

Yea, Anejos are rarity class 2 while the tat is class 1. They may cost the same, but availability is way different.

T (31) Arturo Fuente Anejo NO. 50

It might just be me, but this looks off from two points.

In looking at vitola's I see the current release Anejo 50 marked at $9.00/stick. It looks like the "original release" price was $7.25, but has since risen. There was a $0.75 increase in 2007, then a $1.00 increase in 2009 making the current price $9.00. The Tat from what I can tell is about $8.21
My sources:
Serious Cigars - $8.10/stick
SmokeInn - $8.08/stick
Holts - $8.44/stick
Average - $8.21/stick
Thus posing the value for value issue, the put is about $0.80 less that the take.

Second thing I see is that the Anejo is a more limited release (only released around Father's Day and Christmas time), where the Tat is a regular production item; currently the Tat is readily available at all 3 vendors.

From what I would think, if the $0.80 difference was the other way (Tat over the Anejo) the price difference might make up for the rarity difference. But that would be Jake's call.

All good points here.... That's my bad on the pricing I guess I looked at vitolas to quick seeing the $7.25 and doing the math on the Tat I thoughtalmost a $1 over put would have made up for the limited production. As this is still made just not as frequent but is still made. This is where I get lost what would you guys consider the value of this harder to find stick. And just to throw it out there if what is being said for that put and take then I would say my other two are higher overputs not even being made anymore.

Any thoughts

Paul.

Yes, it seems that your other two puts would be over puts due to the rarity of them. I think the Anejo should be priced about a $1.00 higher than the $9.00. But, that is just my guess with this being my first pass.

I'm not totally sure that I would necessarily add value to the Anejo. This just based on the fact that they are on a scheduled release being twice a year, they are a bit more difficult to get but I wouldn't consider them HTF sticks. For example in the F/S/T section here you see them pop up throughout the year. If you were to post up an ISO you probably wouldn't have a really hard time getting them (supposing you have met the criteria to post an ISO).

The above comments are based solely on the thought that the Anejo isn't "aged", in my mind something like 6 or so years old. If the cigar is "aged" then we could have a different discussion about pricing.

As for your over puts on the first two, I would imagine that based on the fact that there is a rarity factor might add a little more to the value. Not sure there would be that much value add, only because the cigars aren't really that old yet. Not sure at all how that works though, that is something that Jake would have to weigh in on.

I could be way off though. But that is just my two shiny pennies.

The first one is an overput on rarity....not really on pricing...the second one, imo, while a slight overput on rarity (very marginal) I'd say it's dead even on pricing and given an almost 4 year old take...not really an over put.

The third (I don't know how many times I have to say it....but every trade is graded individually...an overput elsewhere does NOT make up for an under put anywhere else....that's not how it works.

First issue I see on the third....pricing. It couldn't work on that merit...forget anything else. You can argue rarity...but it won't do any good since the trade can't be approved on prices.
To judge MSRP...read the first post. 2K6TBSS pretty much hit it....if the $.80-$1 was the other way...it'd work. An anejo isn't unobtainable...but you can't buy them any time of the year either.

I was not trying to make up for any diffrence at all with my first to puts. In my opinon I looked at them as being right on the money! I simply just mis read vitolas and saw the $7.25 I will check my humi and see what i got to get close to the Anejos $9 value and update in a few!

Thanks
Paul

Am I alone in thinking that it would be best to only put rarity for rarity? There are a lot of what I would call good but overpriced cigars which dont comepare to lower priced but rarer cigars.
