Hi all. Thought I'd introduce myself, since I intend to hang around and absorb as much accumulated pipe knowledge as I can. I've been smoking cigars for about 10 years, since I gave up cigarettes. Since a bunch of guys I smoke with at my local B&M occasionally bring in their pipes, I got interested, especially since I was looking for a way to not waste half a cigar everytime I popped in for a half hour visit.

I purchased a Peterson Aran Stander from the local B&M and am slowly trying new tobaccos from the samplers, leaning toward English blends. I'm slowly trying some aromatics, but I dont want to purchase a whole lot in case I dont like them, and just end up stockpiling a bunch of stuff I'll never smoke.

I'm anxiousl awaiting the arrival of a Savinelli purchased from Frenchy, who by all acounts is a great guy. He certainly seems helpful from the consumer side of things.

Currently Im trying a tin of Davidoff English Blend, and its enjoyable after the third bowl. I've tried a few other mixes, but am looing forward to getting through LOTS of great tobacco.

From all accounts, it seems like Ive fallen into a habit that is going to keep me busy  That being said, I'm enjoying the ritual of pipe filling, tamping and cleaning, as I get more experience in pipe smoking.

Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to help newbies myself one day.

Jeff

Welcome to the Pipe Room. That was a nice intro.

Feel free to ask away if you have questions and feel free to chime in where you feel comfortable doing so.

:)

Hey Jeff, welcome! I am a cigar smoker turned pipe smoker my self, don't get me wrong, I still smoker cigars! I have come to really love the pipe smoking world and community. It is a perfect mix of art and craftmanship with the pipes, to the blending of the tobaccos, and of course the social comradery of the community. I'm still learning, this is a good place to learn too. Have fun!
