]I am 25 year old new to this hobbie and have been smoking cigars for about 6 months. I got really interested when I visited family in Orlando and Tampa and have been hooked every since I walked in the shops there.
I currently have/have smoked Ashton Cabinet 7, Romeo Y Julieta Res. Maduro Toro, various CAO L'Anniversaire, some Fuente's, AVO's, Onyx, Padrons, and my favorite any Padron 1964 Anniversary. I would love any input on what to try next and the best way to buy ISOM's. I have a friend who goes to school in N. Ohio and want to know if it would be best to go to Canada to buy and bring back and the best way to do this. I would also like any suggestions on my first large humidor, like some of the 400-500 count ones from Thompson's or E-bay

I live in Kentucky and the closest shop is about 2 hours away so I was wondering where you guys buy from online and if you guys know if a place is legit or not

Hello NEXT,

WELCOME to the best cigar BB on the net!

I think the best way to buy havanas is to get to know people around this board and get involved in group buys.

As far as a large humidor, the best thing to do is get a 100 or a 150 quart cooler from your local big box store and get some of these beads. You'll find that darn near everyone around this site swears by these. You don't need to worry about lining it with cedar as cigar boxes that you store in the cooler will give you plenty of that "aromatic" effect.

Check a few of the threads in the "humidor" section. You'll find that most of the more experienced guys use this as the most PRACTICAL way to store cigars.

I think the cigar stores in Canada see guys like us coming and charge outrageous prices for what most of the time are fakes anyway.

Check out the Newbie Sampler Trade thread
and do a trade with one of the regulars here. You may get lucky and wind up with a havana. :)

Thanks for the respnses and info....I have another question is $266.00 too much or too good to be true for a box of 25 Cohiba Robusto's that a friend can get from Cuba

Sounds about right SO LONG AS THEY'RE NOT FAKES.

As some of the more seasoned people around here say, when you become familiar with a particular brand you'll be able to tell the genuine ones from the fakes. It takes time and probably being taken a few times......

Good luck :)

ahahha, that's a cool nick.

NEXT!!!!

ah... ignore me, i'm stupid.

anwyays, here's an adage that i give to all newcommers:
don't stab a person in the neck

if you want a nice looking humidor, then get one of those 300 count humidors for around 120 bucks (not including shipping).

i'd get one of those if i didn't already buy a 75 count humdor with stuff in it.

Welcome aboard man. You came to a great place to learn. You have much reading ahead of you.

Enjoy CP!!

Welcome to CP! You're gonna love it here.

That is a great price on the Cohiba Robustos. I would make sure they are reputable before ordering. You can't go wrong with these though. Wonderful smoke.

Some others I would recommend would be -

Havanas:

Montecristo #2 and #4
Sancho Panza Non Plus and Belicosos
Punch Punch

Domestics:

Ashton VSG
Mayorga Maduros
Montecristo Afrique

Enjoy!
