Just really got started drinking Scotch over summer vacation.

Glennfiddich 12 Year Old was what I was offered and like on ice.

So I am going to try different distillers aand ages.

Looking at under $100 bottles with maybe a splurge to $250 every now and then or for Christmas.

Suggestions and advice appreciated.

Balvenie- any of their lines are great.
Cragganmore.
Macallan 18
Arbelour

The list is never ending. I always pull up AVB's sticky thread on scotch reviews when I'm at the liquor store.

Read our own AVB's scotch reviews. There's more info than you'll ever need to know.

Balvenie 15 or 12 are great for under 100$

Since you liked glenfidich 12 you may want to try the 15 or 18, they should both be under 100$ 18 is greatly priced I think!

This.

Lots of people begin with Balvenie's offerings when they start branching out from Glenfiddich or Glenlivet, and for good reason---they're all superb. Start with the Doublewood.

Personally, I'm a huge, huge fan of Glendronach's entire lineup, but everyone's taste is unique. Find "your" distillery or region, and don't forget to enjoy the search. ;)

I think Boar sent you on a good path. The one where you try some different distillers offering and have the chance to taste the difference. When Ibstarted out I had the chance to stumble upim my twonfavorite distillers : Bruichladdich and Talisker.

If you decide to take a tour of the scotch regions dont for get to kee the little islands in mind . Talisker is a failry simple brand the comes to mind but Jura would also make a very good example.

Balvenie DoubleWood, Macallan 12, Aberlour 12, 15 16, Glendronach, Bruichladdich Rocks, Old Pultany, Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Talisker....plenty to choose from. My thoughts are here.

Ray thats a shit load of great info my man ! And to think I tought I had gone over ever content of the forum ! lol

Uh oh, another expensive habit being developed. AVB has a great buch of reviews, but like everything else here, YMMV.

I agree, the Balvenie 12 y.o. Doublewood is outstanding. I also recommend The Speyside, and Edradour 12 Year
