I don't know if it is fate, divine intervention, or something else, but today when making my weekly purchase, my eyes were attracted to the end of the counter at the store. I saw about 5 boxes with xXx on them and actually gasped. I thought they may have been displays, so I asked, and was informed that they were in fact filled with Opus X's! I have never experienced these, but from reading the many posts about them, I was more excited than a kid in a candy shop.

I paid approximately 14 bucks for the power rangers, which looks like a lot compared to the listed msrp in the reference stickie, and 15 for the perfection #2, which doesn't seem as bad. However, I only picked up two of the power rangers and one of the #2's. The shop has told me in the past that they only get them a few times a year, so would it behoove me to go and pick up a few extra, despite not having tried them already, merely for the sake of finding out I love them and not being able to purchase them in the future? *weeze* what a run on sentence!

Yes, go pick up some more. Both are great sizes. The $15 for the No. 2 is not bad...I usually pay $18. The $14 for the power ranger, while high, is in line with what I usually end up paying. I've seen much, much worse.

Hope you enjoy them.

Yes that was a good price for #2, I also pay $18. If I were you go and buy what you can, around here they go so fast. Good luck.

Keep in mind the prices listed in the reference thread are 2004 msrp's I believe, and also do not include state tobacco tax, which can make the local prices seem inflated. If you have the opportunity you ought to get as many as you can, since folks here will gladly buy them from you if you don't want them all.

Yes... No Doubt... At that price, can I buy a box? :)

Well... smoke 'em first, see if you like 'em. Then decide if you want to buy more...

Easily said by someone who has enough to last him until 2067! :p

Actually that's good advice (when is Moki's not good advice?) since I have seen one or two questionable reviews here on the board. However it's usually been folks who didn't give the cigars a chance to settle or get at least a little age on them.

Buy as many as you can. You will not be disappointed. I have only had one Opus and it was a perfection X. I still have wood from it. I have an Opus X coming from cbid, should be here today and my local has the belisco. I'll definately smoke it this weekend. I also have a Opus X A that i think I'll age until I have my firstborn.

Buy as many as you can. If you don't like them I think you might be able to find a BOTL or two who would be more than happy to asssist you in getting rid of them. Perhaps someone who has never been able to get their hands on a xXx may be willing to help. :whistling: :p

Or someone who has, me. :p

I drove the hour to the shop today (I currently live in the middle of Amishville, USA unfortunately) only to find that they had sold them all. When I left yesterday at about 10am, they still had an unopened box (which I have a question about), about half a box of power rangers, half of the #2's and two other nearly full boxes. Slightly more than 24 hours later, and there was not a single Opus stick left in the shop.

My question is, the 5th box looked completely different than the others (the others were the nicely lacquered boxes that I have seen in pictures on this board). The top of it said display purposes or display box only (something with the word display and only in it). I went to open it, and it was still sealed with the manufacturer stick over the corner. As I was in a hurry, I didn't bother to have the employee open it, but now its killing me to know what it was. Is there a special display box, or a different line perhaps?

"Amishville"??? Are you near Lancaster, PA? If so, where did you go? Was it Demuth's?

No, I live 1hr south of Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a huge amish community here, and there is a restaraunt called Amishville a couple of towns south of me. Quite a change for me, having lived in the Chicagoland for almost 20 years.

The Wal-Mart in my hometown has a few hitching posts for the amish folks that come to shop.

It may have said "Not for display". Opus X also come in plain unlaquered boxes for refilling the pretty boxes on the shelves. He may be lying to you...call him and ask if he has Opus and see what he says. The plain boxes are double filled...lots of 'em in there.
