Smoked my first one of the new Edge Maduro (Robusto) at Cigardawg's yesterday. I must admit, this was a damn fine cigar. Being the "Snob" that I am, I usually stick to premiums (Opus, Anejo, PAMs, 1926s, habanos, etc. I decided to pick up a couple of the new Edge to try out. I was not disappointed.

Construction: Flawless. Beautiful, dark, oily wrapper, very few veins, silky smooth. Prelight draw was spot on and burned flawlessly.

Taste: Mmmmm. Earthy, and quite spicy (but in a good way). Also hints of pepper and "sweetness" about 1/2 way through. All in all, a very tasty cigar. I could of sowrn I also picked up a bit of cocao towards the end.

Burn: Absolutely perfect. No corrections needed, firm, white/gray ash. I smoked this while playing horseshoes and it stayed even throughout.

I would give this a 92 on CA scale. Highly recommended!

EDIT: I may be wrong about the exact vitola here. i never bought or had an Edge before but I believe this is one of the new ones just released. Scot, can you tell me what I bought? :whistling:

Nice review Jim! I smoked on of these with Dawg and Jingles as well and found it to be a very good cigar, just as Jim says!

It was the Robusto. The Torpedo and Torro were released previously.

Jim, these are a great smoke for the price. I enjoy these better than the RP 1990 and 1992 at half the price. Thanks for the review, the maduro is my choice although the natural is a fine smoke as well. YMMV

I haven't tried these yet. Are they like the missiles? Or more like the Toro, in taste. They're both good but so different. Now I have to find the robusto. It seems like the perfect size and I know the construction is perfectly consistant.

Glad you finally made it to the Edge. A very fine smoke! I think that they are one of the best smokes out there for thier price range even exceeding much more expensive smokes.

Just had another last night. Even better after a couple months resting the humi. Must find more of these....

Funny thing is, I didn't find the Toro Maduro as good as this Robusto. ???

Nice review. I love these. You will also like the Missile size. I recently picked up a box of these, they are great and perfect when you don't have alot of time.

My only complaint about the Edge is that they are a bit too one dimensional. But that's just me.
They are good, though.

There's an old saying among sailors, "Any damn fool can f*ck a woman but you can't very well f*ck a ship off a lee shore." In the same vain, any damn fool can make an expensive cigar but it takes some skill to make a good $5 one.

Doc.
