So I spring for a cooler, probably too small to begin with, and I begin the process recommended in this forum.

Put the bleach water in and fill it up to the top. Well then I closed the lid only to have foam form the mixture spill out all sides. It's drying now and I'll throw some baking soda in this afternoon, but my question is, if the suds leaked out with the lid closed, it stands to reason air will do the same.

Should I just scrap the cooler and go for another one or was it just the pressure of me shutting the lid that forced it out? Anyone had issues like this before?

thanks. have to get this done so I can buy more boxes!

I'd imagine filling the entire cooler up w/ water probably didn't allow you to fully close the lid. All you need to do is just wipe the cooler down w/ soap/water and let dry in the sun(something we haven't seen here lately).

Let it dry out. Turn a flashlight on and put in the cooler. Shut off all lights, totally dark. If you see light, then there is a problem. If not, you're ok.

x2, what Brandon said. What he left out is that he does that "test" while wearing a tiara and his wife's nylons. :sign:

Seriously though, don't know what manner of cooler (what style) you're using, but you probably just over filled it. The only thing that came to my mind was when I was cleaning out a little fold-top, sliding-lid cooler I had once that got some type of crap in it and I cleaned it out, as I slid the lid back over, it spilled over. But, with your typical large capacity, normal type lid, I've never had this problem and it's always been as tight as tight can be.

no kidding brandon, I and my tomatoes need to see the sun again!

probably just overfilled it then. I did do the flashlight test but since the lid is white, the light shone (sp) through but not so in any of the seals though, so it's probably ok.

I'll try putting in a hydrometer and see if the humidity will hold for a couple of days.

Thanks for your responses
