Hey yall,

Well, this is my first pipe! Bought her out of impulse looking for some straight razors at an antique mall. She's a Wally Frank and the dealer said its from the 1930s-1940s. She's pretty nice and the meerschaum has a nice yellowish color to it. Never smoked out of a pipe before so needless to say I'm pretty stoked! It came with a case that is in pretty good shape and the mouth piece is made out of Amber. There is a slight chip at the base of the stem connects to the shank but it is not too bad. What are yall's opinion on the pipe? Any further info on it would be appreciated! thanks!
Now some pipe porn ;D lol.

I have never had a meershcaum, but that looks like a nice one.
With the case and all, good find.
Enjoy your new hobby and experiencing all the types/styles of tobacco available for pipes.
I've been smoking pipes now for about two to three years and really enjoy it at times instead of a cigar.

Thanks! I can't wait to use it!

Nice score. Nice pics, BTW. There's a lot of good info in this forum for pipe newbs like us.

Packing it correctly and keeping it lit seems to be the issues every newb has. It takes a lot more work than cigars but I'm really liking it. Keep at it and having problems at the start is completely normal. I still have to re-light my pipe all the time.

Thanks, I have been hearing that its best to use a match to light it up and keep it lit. Can you use a Butane lighter?

I have bad luck with matches. Usually by the time I get them in position they are about out. YMMV. You can use a butane lighter but a torch lighter will probably scorch the top of the bowl. Any soft-flame lighter will do. Xikar makes some and I bought one of them. Or just your average bic lighter should work just fine.

There are pipe conversions kits available for Zippos. And Zippo makes a lighter just for pipes as well.

I personally use a butane lighter for pipes. I think a soft flame will work best, it does for me anyway.

(No I'm not a Zippo rep)

Lol I'll see how it goes. I'm bringing my butane as well because I will be smoking a couple cigars as well.

Thanks everyone! I was thinking about trading her for another razor on another forum I'm apart of (my first time smoking out of it was less than enjoyable) but I changed my mind! I'm in love with her! ;D
