My Humidor

I've been on this board for 4 days and I can tell you with some certainty that humidor won't be big enough if you stick around here. Even if you don't trade or do passes or boxsplits, the subject matter and "cigar porn" will get you collecting (if not smoking) more than you bargained for. :p

I just bought this humidor from an Orleans Group reseller:

http://www.orleansgroup.com/hum_venetian_black.htm and I really like it.

I'm all about seeing my beauties without having to lift the lid.

Good luck!

Hiya Ben

in answer I would say that I am sure that this humidor along with a small tube of heartfelt beads http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/beads_1.html would be just fine if you dont plan on holding more that 10 cigars. However just some friendly adcive, you may want to look into something in the 50-100 range. as your hobby expands and you need more space to age your sticks or grow your collection you will appreciate the added space.

That humidor wouldn't hold the cigars I smoke in a day.

Buy a 50 or better yet 100ct humidor that way if you ever but a box or even a half a box of cigars you have somewhere to put them.

I would imagine a 15-20ct humidor would hold about 5-8 cigars comfortably.

Not big enough either. :sign: :p

Go big.

I purchased A 150 count.. Well now it is my work humidor and I now have a 150 qt humidor.

noob myself -

i bought a 25 count humidor, thinking that was overkill...HA!

my next one will be AT LEAST 100-150 count.

Figure out what would hold all you may possibly ever have on hand (say 100 for example)...then double that number. That will get you started.

:D

I've been on this board since march, and really only started collecting (as opposed to buying to smoke immediately) just before then, and I'm ready to get myself something around 300-600. And I have a wife that strictly moderates my cigar purchases.

And when looking at humidor size, keep in mind that the numbers they are talking about are if you were to take all single sticks, no boxes, and probably small vitolas as well, and cram them in there as tight as possible. If you'll have any boxes, or even if you get some empty boxes to help organize your individual cigars, you'll want something bigger.

yup, you'll definetively want bigger. I started with a 150ct humidor, it was fine until I joined CP.....

Im tellin ya now...take the humidor your looking at and multiply it by 10 and thats how big of a humidor you should, at a MINIMUM, buy!! You may start off small to begin with, but i will guarantee that youll want more....and MORE!!!!

Get bigger. Even if you don't think you'll ever smoke more than a couple a week, once you start tasting what a difference a few years can do to a cigar you'll want to buy some just to age them. GO BIGGER! ;)

What everyone else has said.

You'll find that some places you buy from might not have ideal humidity control etc and what you pick up will need to hang out in your humi to get where it ought to be. Also you'll be out in a new place and find stuff you cant find locally/normally and will want to pick up a handfull and need some extra capacity.

Id say a 100-150 would be just fine. Then later on go with a coolerdor for larger storage. Keep the humi for on-hand smoking and rotate stuff in from the cooler.

Forget the humidor you gonna need the biggest cooler you can find to store all the smokes you will want to be collecting er... I mean "aging" :D :D Go for buik storage because you are going to need it.

Listen to these guys. I just bought a cake-sized tupperware thingy, thinking I'd be lazy and that it would be plenty big enough.

WRONG. It holds everything now...but I'm low. It'll be full soon. I'm trying my hand at builing one that is about 2'X2'X2', but will have another 25-50ct desktop I'm going to buy. And my good old tupperware thingy for overflow. I'm still in denial about getting a coolerdor.

Go bigger - turn your bedroom into a humi. Once you start this hobbie, you'll likely only buy more and more and more and more. I started with a 50ct, then went to 100ct, then quickly went to a 600ct. Seems like whatever I get, fairly quickly I fill it up. I would recommend going 2-3 x bigger than you think you need. You'll be happy you did!

skip the humidor and go straight for the cooler. you'll thank me later.

Well, if you can't convert your bedroom into a humi, I've also got one for sale - it's a 100ct humi. I bought a 600 ct humi not too long ago, so I'm half using this one (but don't really need it). Just pm me if your interested. Here's a pic...
