I've been working on this for the last couple weeks since the weather got warm. I canibalized the solid Spanish Cedar drawers from a local cigar shop that was throwing them out along with the main carcass. I have a couple shelves that I didn't take a picture of. I thought about going the route of using trays like this one but instead opted to build my own: cheaper and looks better IMO. I got a 10'x7" 4/4 board and cut and resawed it into what I needed. I thought it turned out fairly well. Hopefully it will only be a couple weeks until everything's up and running. I still haven't decided between the Avallo and CMT...

The drawer will fill the top slot and there will be two shelves underneath. It will end up being about 3'x3'x1.5'

Looks outstanding so far. I wish I had such woodworking skills.

I don't have much skill; I'm still really a beginner. I just take my time and re-work pieces until they look decent. The Superintendent I worked with on my last project came from a family of carpenters. His Grandfather does is amazingly skilled and uses mostly hand tools. He told me it just takes patience and practice, and someday you'll look back at the pieces I first built and realize how far you came. He's right; when I look at the first projects I ever did, although I was very proud at the time, now I can't believe how poorly constructed they are. I'm sure the same thing will happen with this humidor. I just have fun doing it and find it very relaxing.

You're nuts man. What you've done looks fantastic.

I can't wait to see all the opus and anejo's you fill that thing up with.

I decided to give up smoking those so I mailed them all down to you...

Seriously though, I have an Opus or two for you for celebration of your twins births. What do you want? chili pepper?? BBMF?? LBMF (I had one of these at the casino the other day and it was fantastic, a little powerhouse)?? 10 year old A?? rising X?? I might even be able to scare up an OR Opus. Let me know.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I'll take more pics when it's completed and filled...

Very cool!

Woodworking is a skill that awes me every time I watch Norm Abrams.

DOH! I got the doors on and then went to line up/adjust the drawer and realized I forgot to leave room for the drawer slides. Time to head back to the drawing board, but I already got a couple ideas...
