This has been going on for about three weeks, since I got the humidor. It came with a Cigar Oasis II XL humidification system. I turned it on and it and it started reading 65 and jumped to 78 in about an hour. I set it to 70 and the guy I got it from said it worked great. I thought I broke the controls during shipping so I called and they sent me another one and I bought the aux. fans. Felecia at cigar oasis said she personally calibrated the new one and it works great, for her. I install it and it’s the same thing.

I’m thinking that it might be to full and not allowing for air circulation? Does that make sense? I’d like to get this working properly. Right now I have beads on every shelf.

If I fill every shelf in my humi it will not work properly? That doesn’t make sense. I need a lesson on how to store cigars properly.

Also I removed a lot of them from there boxes. Some are still in theirs. I know it has been asked before but is there an advantage to keeping the cigars in their original boxes, will they age differently, I picked up some 1970 macanudos still sealed and they looked great, where as the ones that where in an open box where mangled with time.

Do you know for sure that your hygrometer is calibrated...?? Have you done it personally...??

I suggest first calibrating your hydro like blind said even if its a digital. I don't see why if every shelf in your humidor is full that it would not work properly, in my experience the fuller your humidor the easier it is to regulate humidity. Do a salt calibration on your hydro and adjust your numbers accordingly if it is off, if its not off then I would suggest checking your seals, you need some sort of air circulation to keep the RH constant, if its just a sealed box the humidity will continue to rise.
