Tonight, after a stressful but successful day at the test range with a new product, and after fielding phone calls every couple of hours from project managers, my manager, his boss, etc. I was able to tell them late afternoon the product passed and we can ship on schedule. YAY...!! (No stress....right.... :D )

Well, on the way home, I decided to blaze up something special that I'd read about and always wanted to try - a PAM64 torp. I have a few PAM64's that I've been letting sit in the humi and tonight was the night.

A tall, cool Bombay Sapphire and tonic was the beverage of choice.

A snip with the Xikar let even more of the amazing aromas loose. The pre-light smells were awesome. I was really looking forward to this, my first PAM, and I have to say I was not dissapointed. The first inch or so let me know in no uncertian terms that this was a Padron, and something special was about to happen. The first bit was more or less unremarkable, but wow did that change fast. The flavors were smooth, dark, rich and really incredible. All the good things I've come to expect from a Padron were there and it just got better, more intense, smoother (if that was possible) as it went along. Smoked that baby right down until I couldn't hang onto it any longer. The smoke was dense and smelled absoultely wonderful. The burn, in typical Padron fashon was flawless. The draw was open, but not too open; just about perfect in my opinion. Coffee, chocolate, maybe even some earthy tastes were all there, competing for my attention. Only gripe is that it ended.... :p

Wish I could spout as poetically as some of the more experienced reviewers can, but I will say that it was one of the best smokes I've ever had the pleasure of smoking to date.

Nothing like a great smoke and a fine beverage on the deck on a nice cool late summer night after a successful day at work. Did I say "wow" a few times yet...?? It lived up to its reputation and I can't wait to try another.

Best Regards - B.B.S.

Thanks for the review B.B.S.!
PAM torps are for sure one of my faves, although I am concerned about your choice in liquor :p (Had a gin indicent when I was 19 years old and...nevermind)

Congrats on your PAM cherry being busted, I like those much better than the PANs :D

Great review man! Boy I'm glad you finally tried a PAM. Everybody needs to have tried a PAM. Those are definetly some of the most awesome smokes out there. I am glad you enjoyed it, as if you wouldn't.

welcome to the wonderful world of PAM! Now you know what the hype is about (and why I have a couple of boxes of them!!!)

definately on of my Favorite FAV's! Now you need a Padron '26 if you haven't tried one yet...if not, lemme know- I think I might have one fer ya! ;)

Welcome to the wonderful world of PAMs. Nice review. I have smoked them as one of my "special occassion" cigars for the last few years. When I passed the CT bar (same day I got engaged, actually) my fiance went to the shop and picked me up a 26, my love for the high-end Padrons is just about up there with any cigar I have ever smoked.

Excellent, I have one of these (from a very generous CPer) in my humi waiting for a special occasion.

I'm thinking about picking a few more up for something big I know is coming, but can't decide between the PAM and PAN versions. It seems most on the forums I read prefer PAMs; while in print review I've seen the PAN edge out.

Unfortunately, at their cost and availability I'm going to have to choose before I can try both.

Nice review Tom  . I think that you should post your Anejo review also!

Great review

The Torp. is one of my favorite domestics
Hope you have some cooler space for the invasion of the Padrons :D

Yah, I gotta say that the PAM 64 is quickly overtaking my lust for Opus X. Now, I never thought that would happen...but it is quickly becoming a reality. Can't get enough of them... :) Nice review.

Great review, it is how I feel every time I smoke one of these guys.

I am glad I just bought a box of them... Probably going to let them sit for awhile.

Nice review! And I'm with you on the Sapphire, just had a tall double with lime & tonic last night as a matter of fact.

Cheers!

Nice review. The Pams are one of my favorite cigars. They have a uniqueness that is similar to Opus, meaning nothing else tastes like it. Their sweetness and chocalate flavor profile is one that I crave on a daily basis. I always find a way to smoke one a day in my rotation. Right now I am working on a box of Monarcas in maduro, smoking one right now as I type this post.

It seems like there's a big difference between the natural and the maduros.

I had my first PAN experience yesterday evening. I smoked a Padron Anniversary 64 Natural, I think it was the Corona.

This is a very classy looking smoke. The construction is obviously top-notch, the aroma is amazing, mouth-wateringly spicy, the draw was satisfactory if a little bit tighter than I like, the burn was excellent, but between the 42 ring gauge and the tightness of the draw, I wasn't getting the volume of smoke I wanted, and when I puffed on it, it quickly heated up to the point that I needed to set it down in the ashtray for a couple of minutes to cool down.

What seemed to be missing was the flavor. Maybe it was because I had smoked a cigar in the morning, or maybe it was the strongly flavored beer I had drunk earlier in the evening, but this cigar just seemed to be completely missing in the flavor department.

I'm not giving up yet. I want to try the Torpedo to see if larger ring gauge will give me the volume of smoke and the flavor I'm looking for.

While the PAN's are excellent cigars,I never buy boxes of them, just singles. Once is a great while I get an urge to smoke a PAN, where as everyday I want to smoke a PAM.

Sounds like the cigar was too tight to get the full flavor. They do have a lot of flavor when they burn correctly, just not the same as the maduro.

Had my first PAM 64 of the new box Saturday evening... it was pretty awesome, taking only 2 ashes for the entire torpedo.

Gee.. that's too bad! You dunno what yer missing!

PAMs are overpriced and they lack spice.

I rather smoke 4 Padron 5000 maddies.

PAN has more spice and I do like them better. However, the prices are silly.

At 9 bucks a pop for the Pam Exclusivo and Monarcas they aren't a bad price point for what you get. You are right, they don'thave a lot of spice, which is why they are so unique and flavorful. If I want spice I'll smoke an Opus or a Cuban Partagas. When I want to smoke a chocolate smoothy, I'll go for the Pam everytime.
