I was so excited to try the monte 2 that i received yesterday. I smoked it this morning and while the cigar was good it felt short of my expectation. I might have rushed it and not let it rest enough.

As you may know, I like to walk my dogs and light up a cigar. Having a relatively mild winter here in New York had given me a nice stretch.

This is my first Monte and the cigar is just beautiful. The aroma was pleasantly reminding me of a slight leathery scent. The pre-light draw was a tad tight but still very workable. Lighting the foot was unremarkable. The cigar settled nicely after a few puffs. The draw was flat with a cocoa finish. It really never changed and I must admit I was disappointed. :( I threw away the cigar with more than a third left.

I hope a little rest will change this for the short term satisfaction with the rest of the box destined for a year or more aging for long term bliss.

Anyone else have this experience? I don't have the box code handy otherwise. I'll post it. I think its Oct 05 but don't quoute me.

I pulled the trigger too soon on my first stick.

I think resting and aging will do wonders for these. The last few Ihave had have seemed to need a little more aging to help with the blending within the cigar. I have experienced some grassiness when smoking them too soon. YMMV

Everybody's tastes are different, and there are people who like young ISOM smokes. On the other hand, the sick period sets in and nobody likes them, LOL.

Late 05, for my tastes and IMO, is just far too soon. This is not reflective of what this all-time classic smoke is about. When this cigar is on, it is not an unremarkable smoke. It's a "full" taste and some would say "full bodied" cigar. For me, it has some rich flavors, and with age they develop into a more complex flavor or flavors.

Put them away. You won't be sorry.

I had one about 2 weeks ago that was sitting in my fathers humi for a year.
One of the best ISOM I have had. Its hard to wait that long, but its worth it in the end.
