Cigar: Perdomo La Tradicion Cuban Cafe B
Size: 6 x 54
Blend: Nicaraguan Puro - Sungrown Wrapper
Drink: Duvel Belgian Golden Ale
After a pain in the ass day, I decided to relax with one of my favorite combos of drink / cigar, a Perdomo Cuban Cafe and Duvel Belgian beer. I have never been a fan of many of Perdomo's cigars, but this (and the cameroon wrapped la tradicion) has always been one of my absolute favorite cigars, bar none as it just hits the spot. The Duvel is also one of my favorite drinks, as it is reasonably priced (since it is not Trappist) and has a great body that holds up to a cigar and is bottle conditioned, so the added carbonation really refreshes the palate.
The appearance of this cigar is excecllent, with a nicely adorned band and a flawless wrapper with a construction that appears to be fabulous. Closer inspection fo the finely applied cap and weight in the hand reveals that the roller has taken time in crafting this fine cigar, and the pre-draw reveals and excellent balance between free flowing and controlled delivery. Any intital impressions of what is to come during a pre-light draw are non-exixstent, as there is not much tingle on the lips and there is no noticeable flavor imparted. Initial light reveals a light spice and generous smoke.
While there is not a significant change in the nuances imparted from this cigar, the melding of graham cracker / paper / sweet baking spices that dominate this cigar is amazing. You know what to expect, which is a fabulous experience with a wonderful aroma and quality burn. The ash holds on for as long as one would expect a premium cigar, with no real flaking to speak of.
I highly recommend these cigars, even to those wary of Perdomo's reputation.
