Cigar: Montecristo Especial No.2
Origin: Cuba
Ring Gauge: 38
Length: 5.9"
Box Code: FR NOSU (10/98 La Corona)
Atmosphere: Deck about 65 degrees outside listening to the White Sox game
Beverage:RZ 23 anos
Prelight:
Quality construction
Prominent triple cap topped off with a nice pigtail.
Smooth to the touch and very light in the hand
Wrapper taste was a bit spicy on the lips and tongue
Aroma was very woody with a slight hint of fruit
Cut the cigar with the Xikar multitool
Torched the foot and enjoyed the woody/nutty aroma this cigar gave off
Light:
Cigar lit up without any problems
The draw was not as loose as I like a bit on the tighter side of things.
Initial flavor was that of spice with subtle hints of wood.
After the initial spice/woody flavor the cigar began to get a nutty/woody taste. Still Maintaining the same draw tight draw.
Midway point I began to notice pronounced woody taste with slight hints of fruit.
As I reached the last 3 inches this cigar returned back to a spicy/woody and now exhibited a slight creamy Flavor
Great flavors from such a thin gauged cigar
The cigar had an excellent and even burn never once did I need to touch it up
Ash was peppery and held very well
It’s amazing what age can do to a cigar
Very refined cigar with loads of flavor that change throughout the entire length of cigar
Nice change on pace from your normal line of Montecristo's
Highly recommended if you want to step away from your Monte #2 and try something a Little different
My overall smoking experience with this cigar would be a 7 out of 10 (probably would have been an 8 if it were not for the tight draw)
