Montecristo "A"

i am a newb to the whole cigar smoking thing and i recently recieved a box of 5 montecristo a's as a gift from a friend. they each came in a wooden slide open box. i was wondering if leaving them in my basement (between 65-70 degrees, 65% hum.) will be enough or if i should invest in a humidor. i also was wondering how these cigars are. i am an avid golfer, will these cigars be a good idea next time i hit the links? i would like to thank you, as i have frequently perused the boards here and learned a lot about the art of cigars.

First welcome to Cigar Pass.

Second, the Monte A in the cellar. A cigar of that caliber atleast needs a humi or a tupperdor.

Please dont leave them out in the open in the cellar. Even though the temps and humidity you talk of are good.

Nice cigars!! The Sancho Panza Sanchos are the same size and I actually prefer those over the Monte "A" but I'm probably in the minority on that one

So long as your basement stays at 65-70% RH they'll be fine. My basement is the same in the spring to fall months so I usually leave the cigars out on the table. Just be sure to monitor the RH in your basement as we get later into the autumn (WHERE did the summer go?).

Ah, okay so your climate is essentially the same as mine. Around this time of year my basement makes for the perfect humidor. It stays right around 68 to 70 degrees and I actually have to use a DEhumidifier to keep the RH down to 65%

We have another member here HudsonValley who lives somewhere near you as well.
