Mold, Plume, or Tooth?

I have this cigar that arrived not too long ago and have been really confused by it. At first glance I thought it was mold, so I isolated it until I figured out what to do with it. Just in case it was mold, I didn't want it to spread to any of my other cigars. Then I forgot about it until I read a recent post that showed moki's Opus in bloom or plume.

So I figured I want to put my curiosity to rest. I did a search and came up with some great info already posted:

After doing a bunch of reading, my guess is that what I am seeing is toothiness. It is a whiteish substance on the top, but it doesn't really rub off. Being new to cigars I would like a second opinion. Please LMK what you think.

Close up of cigar in question.

Looks like skidmarks to me! This cigar ever been tossed out of the window of a moving vehicle? :)

No idea, could be. This is how it showed up to me. It was packaged in a ziplock w/ several other cigars, only one was in it's own cellophane wrapper. But this was the only cigar that looked this way.

However, I took into consideration what you and some other people said. Whatever it is wouldn't come off with just my finger, but if I wet my finger, then it seemed to rub off.

Cigar after damp cleaning.

That seemed to help. It still seems very strange. I plan on keeping it seperated and will watch it to see if any of the signs come back.

Thanks,

I was going to guess that it was wax (looks kind of like some apples you buy at the store) till you said it came off with water.

Just smoked the cigar. If it tastes like mold, you know what it is. If it tastes good, all the better. Either way, you don't have to worry about keeping it separated. :)

Cory,

According to Robert Spooden "Owner" of Bucanero it is Plume due to the aging of the the tobacco before it even goes out to the customer. I e-mailed him with your picture and asked for his opinion on what it was. Hope you dont mind. Thanks. Hes a great guy to chat with.
