I know this must have been talked about before but here goes.

I've got some white furry stuff on some of my smokes and I keep telling myself that it's plume but i'm affraid it's mold. I'd like to smoke it tonight after school finals.

How do I tell if it's mold or plume, it white and furry. not green, not crystally.

I don't know Looking for guidence- Happens to be on my cubans so I'm nervous. They have been aging awhile, supposedly the cubans are from the 2003 Habano Festival.

plume makes sense right?

Thanks

White + Furry = Mold

John, wer're not talking about your nueticles!

LMAO @ Gary!

You can wipe it down and give it a go. Might, or might not taste funny.

Some might cringe at what I'm about to say, but I've never experienced any drawbacks to this in the past.

I had some WOAM a few years back that developed mold. I took them out and gently wiped them down with a tissue damp with 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. Just enough to wet the wrapper and clean it. Not enough to saturate. Mold did not grow back and the cigars seemed fine when smoked.

Or did I trade those to Gary and Brian? ???

can i smoke it, can i fix it?

I scrapped it off already.

Wipe it off and fire it up! (as long as it's not "eaten up")

I think if you have to ask its just better to air on the side of caution and call it mold. If its not too bad, clean it off and fire it up asap....or toss it, your choice. Whatever you do, I would sequester it from the rest of the sticks and keep an eye on whats going on...no need to ruin everything.

I only had mold once, and it appeared only on one stick shortly after introduced to the humi. I freaked, sequestered the stick for one day after cleaning it off and it seemed worse (probably just me overthinking it but still), and I just tossed the stick. I was using the foam pucks with distilled though, and i switched everything around after that.

I moved everything to a tupperdore, cleaned and lightly sanded my humi after letting it air-out awhile, and reseasoned it and went straight to all heartfelt beads. Moved eveything back and have yet to have a problem. Ymmv.
