Mixing beads

I had 2 tubes of 70% beads 1.5 ounces total, they were runnin fine, but with the ultra dry climate here, They were keeping my 2 humi's humid (one ounce in 1, half ounce in the other) and I picked up a half pound of 65% beads.

I had one ounce of 70% and probably about 1 ounce of 65% in one humi, and I figured they'd probably just level out somewhere between 70&-65%. Is this true, or will they fight each other, so to speak?

I've been having interestingly variable humidity in that humi, it sat at about 67 for a day, dropped to 65, then has gone down to about 60%. The beads are kept moist, I've made sure that they aren't all turning white. But the levels keep changing.

I'm not worried about 60% vs 67% humidity, I'm just curious if mixing the beads would have had anyhting to do with this?

I've since moved all the 70% beads to my second, smaller humi, and put a bunch more 65% in the bigger one, and will see where it lands.

No, they will not mix RH. The 70 will override. You gotta pick one or the other. IMO, 65.

Man, you're all over my threads tonight!

So, would this have anything to do with the fluctuations in my RH though?

i also live in vegas and for years struggled with keeping a fairly constant
RH in my coolidor.

however, this is what works for me.

i bought a jug of pearl fresh cat litter, added these (dry) to my cooler in increments in
addition to having a humidifying device. while i had to experiment a little with bead
qty i have been able to maintain my RH in a very tight range, something i could never
do before.

while this may sound a little crude, it works and all at a cost of less than $15 for some
litter and a sponge.

Never, ever, cross the streams, Ray. Very bad.

If you are having fluxuation problems it may be that you do not have enough beads to handle the humidor.

Yup, mixing 65 and 70pct beads could cause an upsweep of chroniton particles causing time to slow down.

Yes, they will compete when the RH is greater than 65pct. I serously doubt you could even measure it with 2 ounces in a desktop hum though.

The 70% will continue to regulate to 70% until they are dry and then the 65% will take over. (eg, your RH will start out at 70% and then drop to 65%).

I hope this helps
