I received these Miracle Fruit tablets from another brother with the agreement I would post a review of my experience. I decided to go ahead and try one out this afternoon, so here goes.
Per the instructions, I roll the pill around on my tongue, letting it dissolve at its own pace. It doesn’t taste like berry to my palate, but has more of a nutty characteristic, possibly pecan. It takes approximately five minutes to completely dissolve, and after it has the only difference I get is the same nuttiness taste has remained on my tongue.
First thing, I pour a small snifter of Macallan 12 (not my 18, nuh uh) and take a sip, rolling it around on my tongue. Not sure if anyone has ever eaten Mulberries straight off the tree, but this is the flavor I got. I could feel the alcohol going down my throat as I swallowed, however nothing but sweetness on my tongue. Mulberry Macallan, yessiree.
Second thing, I’m going to sacrifice one of my beloved <gasp> Bolivar PC with a couple years age. I figured one of these as I know the profile somewhat well ( ) and would be able to tell any difference. I punch the cap and the draw is on the tight side, however the taste coming through doesn’t seem to be any different than usual, just good straightforward tobacco. With fire to the foot, I take a draw and…can’t really tell any difference. It tastes like good ‘ol Bolivar to me. I’m wondering if maybe the Mulberry Macallan has cleansed my palate of this Miracle Fruit. I take another sip of the fine scotch, and I immediately get a butterscotch taste as the liquid rolls over my tongue, a nice burn on my throat as the alcohol goes down. Shortly after, I taste…watermelon?? No lie, smacking my lips/clucking my tongue I distinctly taste some kind of melon. Weeeeird.
I pick the Boli back up and take a long draw, still tastes like a Boli to me. Maybe, just maybe a hint of something different? Nah, just good ‘ol Boli. Thank goodness! Hmmm…let me go find something else to try out. Here’s one of those plastic lemons/lemon juice in the fridge. Holy cow, it tastes like delicious sweet lemonade! Oh oh, dill pickles! It tastes like…a sweet pickle! An olive! Uh…it tastes like an olive. Here’s some hot sauce…tastes like…sweet barbecue sauce….oh wait…CRAP!! My throats on fire!!!
Okay, I think that’s enough. I can definitely say the Miracle Fruit does make a difference on most sour/bitter things. It really doesn’t seem to work well with flavors that I already like, just changes it to something different. The Boli however, still tastes good, so I think I’ll sit back, relax, and enjoy this fine smoke (and the Mulberry Macallan).
Thanks for sending these; I gave the other to the wife to see if she’ll try it.
