Yeah, yeah, yeah, big deal....
Milwaukee, who had a lock on the Wild Card a few weeks ago is now TIED with the Phillies and only two ahead of the Astros! :0
I had counted the Astros out pretty much all year but since the All Star Break, they've got the best record in baseball. The Astros have won 15 of their last 17 including this loss so no problem, ya can't win 'em all.
Last time the Astros were at Wrigley Field, how many did the Cubs win? That was the first home series in I don't know how long you guys didn't win and ever since that spanking by the Astros, you haven't been doing too well....
Yep, your Cubbies will make the playoffs and if the Astros or the Brewers win the Wild Card, you'll play the Dodgers and get beat in the first round! If the Mets win their division and the Phillies win the Wild Card, you play the Phillies and I'll bet you'll lose that too! Your only hope to go to the NLCS is for the Phillies to win their division and the Mets win the Wild Card because I think you can beat the Mets BUT you'll lose the NLCS if you get that far.
Bottom line is I say the Cubbies aren't going to the World Series no matter what.
I also don't think the Brewers are going to make the playoffs. I really would like to see the Brewers or the Cubs go far this year if it can't be the Astros because while they are both "rivals" of the Astros, I really would like to see the NL Central represent the NL in the World Series but I just don't see that happening. The Phillies and the Dodgers are peaking at the right time (and so are the Astros
) and the teams that peak late like this are usually the ones that go to the World Series. Colorado in '07, St. Louis in '06, White Sox in '05, etc.
If I were to take a guess right now at the World Series match up this year, I'd say the Dodgers and the White Sox (or possibly the Angels).
And no, I'm not going to bet against the Cubs with any of you Cubs fans
because like I said, I do indeed wish you well in the playoffs. I was absolutely thrilled to see the Red Sox break their 86 year drought and the White Sox break their 87 year drought and it would indeed be nice to see the Cubs break their drought which is coming up on 100 years.
