I've got some play money that I must spend, and I'd like to get me a nice XMas box. Being a newbie, I don't have much of a reference but can tell you that of the Nons I've tried, I liked La Perla Habana Black Pearl, and Indian Tabac Natural the most.

Edited to add that I also liked the CAO gold label.

On that basis, what would you recommend I start off with?

Quai d'Orsay Gran Coronas ;)

Supposedly "mild" but LOTS of flavor. I love these cigars

Second that.

If you want to go a little milder, Quinteros are a great affordable smoke as well.

Quinteros are HARDLY mild Michael :D

You are joking, right? ???

BTW, check your sig tag:
While Virginia Woolf reecomended

Try recommended unless you're trying to sound like Cheech Martin

Your "location":
I'll gove you my humi to take my exam tommorow
is cute too.

Try give and tomorrow ;)

You been drinking again? Time for your alterego sir-drinks-a-lot to make an appearance

Is english not a requirement for International Management @ Gustavus Adolphus ??? :whistling:

hmm, well I have only had the Nacionales and, IMHO, it was on the milder side, had some flavour, but was a little weak.

checking MRN, it seems that this is the 'lightest' one of the line, so cannot say for sure on the rest.

on a side note, I apologize for SDAL just showing up like that, I usu. keep him locked up, but he got out. sorry.

Let me reecomend :D El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme (the ISOM variety). You can get a box for about the same price as a good box as NCs. There pretty mild but have alot of flavor. Got my hands on some from 2001 and they arre tremendous.

In my order of preference:

ERDM Choix Supreme

Sancho Panza Belicoso

SLR Serie A

I would classify all these as "morning" smokes that would fit the "mild" you are looking for.

BTW, even milder (bland to me) would be something from the Diplomatico, Juan Lopez or Quai d'Orsay lines.

I was NOT talking to you newbie, I was talking to THIS GUY who appeared before we all got yelled at for creating multiple screen names :0 :D

QDo--why the Gran Coronas over the Coronas? Different flavor or just longer = more pleasure?

Anybody ever tried Guantanameras?

well its pretty much agreed but i will add...

tried a quai d'orsay corona last month...very mild but tasty...so mild i decided not to buy

jlo...also a mild but tasty habano...my fav is the patricias...but be warned i tried a 7 year old box and they were very bland (may be the way they were stored...have had a few other boxes i enjoyed very much).

Guantanameras...have had a few...not dog rockets but not primo habanos either...compay was alright and the purito was ok just a bit tiny(i think these were the ones i tried)

derrek :D

Thanks all for your advice and guidance. I ordered them. What other choice did I have?! :)

Am still one and the same! Just forgot my orig. password.
kinda hard to manage these multiple-personalities.

I must say tho, cc is right on w/ QdOs, my fave. mild cigar.

my only Q. is why are you a fan of TPC's, which sounds about right. :p
and also DCs, trying to overcompensate?

:D :D
I used to be a big fan of big, phat cigars but have found that I take many trips in the car that are only 15 to 20 minutes and DC's (Prominentes) don't relight too well :0 So, I was looking at a thread one day on CW where guys were talking about something called "RASCC" so I went to my trusty MRN book and looked 'em up. Since I love Gigantes and MRN said something about RASCC's being "mini Gigantes" I figured I'd order a box an try 'em out. I fell in love with them. THEN I started on my SC kick, bought a box of El Principes and said "WOW, these are great" and again, it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to smoke them.

When I have to time for a Prominentes, I'll fire one up but lately, those opportunities are few and far between so I smoke the Minutos and Marevas most of the time now;)

Now I seem to be going in the Corona Gorda direction. They don't take that long to smoke and there are some wonderful CG's out there ;)

Now you're telling me, after I ordered GCs.

Oh well, it'll keep me from smoking too often. Once or twice a week will have to do.
