Long time browser - first time poster... and I HAD TO post to this section as this has been the one I've frequented for months before I finally put it all together...

I picked up a Milano Humidor from CheapHumidor

And Heartfelt Beads and a digital hydrometer from Heartfelt

And put it all together for a little desktop humidor to hold my little babies...

Thought I'd share at least some pics and say thanks for all of the helpful and useful advice.

A few minor notes:
I have 4oz of beads in mine. 2x the required amount. Keeps it firmly btw 65 and 68 depending on time of day and how hot\cold it is. 2oz in the tube, 2 oz in the black water container that came with the humidor once I took the foam out.
While this is a small box compared to what most of you have, I never seem to keep cigars around long enough to justify something bigger. But I quickly see why most of you recommend getting 3x the size you think you should get... easily gets crowded in there when you pick up a box or two.

Now this is impressive. He read researched and acted. Then he posted an intro about his exploits. Well done

Only problem no address :( :0

Happy I could play a part in your new humidor, very nice humi I might add!

An excellent post. You may never post on this forum (or any other cigar board) again, but you did just as Anthony stated. You absorbed some of the knowledge from this board, used it for your gain, and expressed your appreciation for that. VERY well done.

I (and many others) peruse other hobby themed boards as a "lurker" in search of "expert" knowledge and advice. There are so many out there. Coffee forums, television/home theater forums, heck, even shaving forums! There's something for everyone and each is a community in its own right.

A simple "thank you" is sometimes the best post one can ever make as their sole contribution to a hobby board. It's a good reminder that there are lurkers appreciative of what may seem to be redundant drivel to more experienced members.

I too have a Milano. Great little starter humidor. Now I have that, a tupperdore, and a 300 count desk top. This all started about 4 months ago and I said the same thing as you did "I never seem to keep cigars around long enough to justify something bigger. " My cooler is now in the process of being set up after getting a wild hair up my ass two weeks ago. Being Opus and Anejo season things got a bit out of control. The Milano won't store boxes, I can tell you that much. :)

On another note, its great that you did your research and posted about your success. Thanks for the great story and enjoy your time here at CP.

Very nice man. :) Just to thread jack a bit.... I also have a Milano that I F'ed up a bit and the screws came out due to me trying to put very small amounts of weatherstripping in....... Is it totally useless? It holds humidity but I have to literally take the top off just to grab a smoke. Would be nice though just to use as longer term storage :) LOL. End threadjack!

Im a Milano Starter too

I had it few long month, than sold it and purchased 2 four drawers humis for like 500 cigars... they're already full too :whistling:

For those that wonder why everyone says get a bigger humidor, here's the main reason why...
I picked up two boxes of my favorites... AVO Classic Piramides and Butera Vintage Dorado 652 Torpedo
With the few cigars I had already, my collection cannot grow any larger... (maybe one or two)

Total stock =
Bottom rack
24 AVO's
18 Buteras
1 Carlos Torano Torpedo
1 Ashton VSG Wizard
with 2 * 2oz humidity beads on either end.
Top Rack
5 Romeo & Julieta Dreams (glass tubed)
5 Avo's (no room on the bottom to hold em...)
1 Butera (again no room on the bottom...)
and 2 * 1 oz humidiy beads on either end

I was in the midst of fixing up my dad's humidor with leftover humidity beads and found that I'm really liking the setup I have now. Keeps the top and bottom at a constant 65-68% and with the excessive amount of beads I have in there (3 to 4 times what's actually needed) , I don't have to maintain it as much. Way overkill I know, but beads are cheap.
(Dad - if you are reading this, don't be jealous... I'm going to order you a 1/2 lb of beads so you can have the same type of setup I got...)
Also being the creature of habit that I am, I'm very content with this setup. If I got a larger humidor, I would feel the urge to fill it to the top and not stop till I reached that goal. No coolidor for me... too dangerous. For those that CAN resist that urge, this would be the smallest humidor I'd recommend - buy bigger at your own risk!!!

Viper - again thank you for hooking me up with the blue capped tubes and beads... your service rocks and is very much appreciated!!!

As for Post #3, I got a lotta smoking to do before that happens :)
Perhaps when I finally get my dad's humidor set up, I'll snap a few more pictures...

Thanks again everyone!!!
