So between trips (Outlaw Padron event and niece's graduation) I was able to hook up with Treamayne (Karl) as he and his mother were passing thru town prior to a cruise. PetersCreek (Brett) and I were lucky enough to be able to share a cigar on Brett's deck after a nice evening dinner out.

Good times had by all, again. unfortunately Bilder could not join us for the 'event'.

hope the cruise was a good one Karl!!

Another example of the Alaska BOTLs doin' it right. Well done fellas!

I got to make that trip up there. Looks like you guys had a great time! Thanks for sharing.

Ya drinking an Old Style, Jim?
Naw... Diet Dr Pepper!

C'Mon up! There's usually a spare room (and soon to be two!) at Casa Sterling! That is unless, some other freeloader is using it!
There is always beer in the fridge, pillows on the spare bed, food in the cupboards (not to mention the smoker!) and fuel along with bait in the boat. Oh yeah... a cigar or two has been sighted in the humi as well. As long as one does not mind 250 pounds of happy dogs greeting you at the door (and in your face every morning!)

Who knows... if I pull good summertime leave next year, we'll have to arrange the first every Alaskan Fishing Herf! LOL

Thanks for the invite, you never know where or when I'll show up.

Well, thanks to everyone for their extremely useful input. The show is over and I have just returned home. Internet was sparse and expensive for th etrip, so I didn't really use it at all, hence this catch all post-event post.

Anchorage Rocked - and a great thank you to Swissy (Jim) for all the extra help, despite your tight schedule and it was great Herfing with both Jim and Brett (Peterscreek). Definitely jealous of your house, deck and veiw there Brett <grin>. Dinner was awesome too. Another thnaks for the insider info on the area - Seward was excellent. Matt, sorry we didn't get to hook up - but that's anouther excuse to make it back in th earea for another Herf!

Vancouver rocked, although we were so beat from the long cruise and too many shore stops that we didn't get to do too much. My mother's back was acting up, so we played it low-key and relaxed. Stanley park was great - made it there all three days, Queen Elizabeth park was georgeous too. Diodn't get to see too much downtown, drove through Chintown and Gastown. Made a stop by Yaletown to find Seadub's recommended Cigar Shop - it was nice, but is leaving the location. Lease is expired and owner won't renew, so they had a bit of a sale (which I used as an excuse to shop a bit <grin>) and said that their mail-order would remain while they found a new location. Thanks to xRanger and AVB for the insights as well, wish I could have made it to the bridge - but no joy. Need to go back with a car and more time, but now there's another excuse to return.

All-in-all the vacation was beyond phenomenal and exactly what I needed. First real vacation in years. I'll be posting some of my 3000+ pictures once I get them reduced and cleaned up a bit.

Yep, it was a pleasure to meet Karl and his mother...and to host MHII on the deck. Definitely a good time.

Another advantage to herfin' up here for y'all Lower-48ers to consider is that pic was taken at about 9:30pm...and the sun didn't set for another hour-and-a-half that night. Wasn't it a little after midnight when we finally stopped jawin'?

Anyway, the deck is a nice place to light 'em up and we're never lacking in the food department, either. I can even back Jim up with another smoker. So y'all quit sayin' "someday" and carry it on up here. It'd be a hoot.
