I have been thinking about sending my clients boxes of cigars for the holidays. Last year we sent a set of 4 tickets to the Raiders game to each client. (Great seats too) If we give cigars they can't be just run of the mill everyday cigars, they would have to be hubanos.

Something special you just don't get everyday. Keep in mind I wouldn't be buying just any client these cigars, only clients I could trust with this sort of special gift, (everyone else gets football tickets)

So.... with a budget of about $2500 and a client list of about 8 clients what would YOU recommend? If I have to order the cigars now because they are hard to find then I will.

I just sent off some R&J Reserve to one clients office and they smoked the whole box in 4 days. It makes me think that most beginner cigar smokers would prefer the milder cigar. I could be wrong, that’s why I am asking.

Good idea or not?

Richard

I'm not sure how to answer since alot of it depends on what these folks actually know about cigars, and if you're actually willing to take the risk of a) buying something that is illegal in the US and b) showing your clients that you have indeed broken the law to get them some cigars, which they may or may not appreciate.

I'm not sure it's a great idea, but then again I have no idea what business you're in and who these clients are. If you are in organized crime, I'd say it's a great idea, go for it!

My suggestions:

Cohiba Robusto's (25) - about $300 per box
Montecristo #2's (25) - about $220 per box
Punch Churchill (25) - about 250 per box (aluminum tubes - $310)
Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro (25) - about $300 per box
Trinidad Robusto Extra (15) - about $250 per box

Ditto Gonz, illegal activity may get you into some hot water. Someone may slip when asked where they got the gars, and tell someone else and so on, till it gets to the wrong person. A box or 2 of 64's are legal and great smokes. If these people know very little about cigars, they won;t know the diff between an isom or a legal.

I think the Laser Inscribed cigars would work great for this one. When you client gives them out, you'll still be recognized!

OK lemme re phrase the question a little.

The clients I have I have known for many years and we do things together such as, Skiing, Drinking, dinners and I took every one of my clients to the Playboy mansion and 1 weeks of golf :D .

We are very personal. If someone turned me into the Feds for a box of freaking cigars he would be cutting his own throat not just mine.

No I'm not in organized crime. I'm in Construction (close)

There are many good cigars to choose from and I'm sure you don't HAVE to spend all $2500. Besides the Padrons already mentioned I'd also suggest Diamond crown Maximus (in the $200 range for the Toro size). Trying to get 8 boxes of those will keep you busy for a few months.

OK, thanks for the suggestions.

I will take it all under advisment.

I think getting domestics and doing the laser inscribing is the better way to go.

Also, I'm going to assume they don't know much about cigars and still think of Cubans as being a holky grail type thing.

If you give someone that doesn't know much about cigars a box of 1964's they are just getting cigars, they're great but you can get them anywere. ISOM's are a different story. That's a more impressive gift even if it's a box of Guantanamera's. Alot more impact. If they are trusted get them ISOMs.

Monte #2's

On a side not... What do I have to buy to get on that client list?

Yeah whatever it is i think we could get up a collection.
Nahh never work. 20 cigars split 500 ways dont work out.
