hey I have been a total flake but I was wondering what the squares under the members word meant.
thanks to anyone who helps

It maxes out at 7 squares when you hit 800 posts.

That might make a fun contest, figure out the number of squares that AVB would have if it didn't max out!

The answer is 96.7. 800 divided by 7 = 114.28. 11051 divided by 114.28= How many squares.

What's my prize?

You're only looking at the end result for 7 squares, not the rate to change from one square to another. Your answer is not correct.

So, it look like this:

1 [_] 0-49 posts ________(+50)
2 [_] 50-99 posts _______(+50)
3 [_] 100-249 posts _____(+150)
4 [_] 250-399 posts _____(+150)
5 [_] 400-649 posts _____(+250)
6 [_] 650-799 posts _____(+150)
7 [_] 800- posts

Unfortunatelly its not a regular sequence so theres no easy way to check how many squares should be with more than 11k posts.
If it was +250 and then +250 again than sequence would look like this
+50 +50 +150 +150 +250 +250 +350 +350 +450 +450 +550 +550....etc

but lets try to check it this way, according to those 6 known changes (+50 +50 +150 +150 +250 +150 +50 +50 +150 +150 +250 +150.... and so on, and so on... )

So it look like the answer is :

84 squares

:D

BINGO!

After looking at it more, you only made one mistake that didn't affect the outcome. Can you figure out what it is?

The sequence should be: 49, 50, 150, 150, 250, 150
what changes a little square 84 interval from 11050 - 11199 to 11037 - 11186.

Good, but there is another :)

The sequence should be: 49, 50, 150, 150, 250, 150
what changes a little square 84 interval from 11050 - 11199 to 11037 - 11186.

I'll get you out a prize later this week. You worked hard enough for it :)

Your process was correct except that you don't get a block for just being a member, you need to make one post. That would make the first step 49 posts to get to 50 which earns the second block. However, that never repeats so you have to base the next steps on how the sequence steps for the other numbers which is what you came up with originally.
count-step-blocks
49, 1-49-1 block
50, 50-99-2 blocks
150, 100-249-3 blocks
150, 250-399-4 blocks
250, 400-649-5 blocks
150, 650-799-6 blocks
800 and up 7 blocks

For only the first iteration

50
50
150
150
250
150

For all subsequent iterations

Thus, as you figured out, with between 11,050 and 11,199 posts I'd have 84 blocks.
