Ring Gauge: 52
length: 6 1/4
filler: a blend of peruvian, honduran, and nicaraguan tobacco.
binder: nicaraguan
wrapper: African-Cameroon.
I must confess...I enjoyed this cigar hours before the new year and now wished that I had brought in the new year with this one.
appearance:
The wrapper looks exactly what you would expect a cameroon wrapper to look like. It was slightly oily with small veins and a deep brown hue. The wrapping was done very well and I couldn't wait to get it ignited.

Aroma:
Initial smell of cigar gave the distinct scent of spice followed by a hint of cocoa. A further, deeper, smell revealed an underlying tone of wood. Upon initial ignition I took in a scent of very sweet cocoa with the wood and spice still noticed. The smell that this cigar gave after being lit only invited me to come even more closer.

Burn:
Absolutely 100% no burn issues with this smoke. The only downside (as noted in other reviews of this cigar) is the flaky white ash that has trouble holding strong to the cigar. Other than this one downside, there was a very even burn.

Consistency:
As noted in other reviews, I have not smoked more from the same box and so I can not comment on the consistency of the packaging. However, the consistency of the single cigar was very high and there were not negative suprises during the enjoyment of this treat.

Construction:
Overall construction was superb. Normally I find a cameroon wrapper to be very delicate but in the case of this cigar it did not present any issues. As a result, I award this section of the grade a...

Draw:
Simply flawless. The pre-light draw was very open and revealed a hint of all the flavors. During the experience of the cigar the draw was consistent and rewarding because of the flawless presentation of flavor.

Flavor:
My understanding of most mild-medium cigars is that you get a very well noticed change from mild to medium...this did not occurr.
The initial stage of the smoke produced a very creamy cocoe flavor. It was smooth and just the right amount of cocoa and (hazzlenut?) flavor to begin with.
As I ventured further into this New Year's Eve suprise, I encountered small, yet growing, hints of coffee...not that bold cup taste that I needed this morning though. This was more of a, "hi, taste this elegant cup of brew"...indeed it was classy. The hazzle nut flavor begins to come back as I work my way through the mid section.
I then began to encounter hints of woods...at first I suspected cedar, but as the hazzlenut flavor faded out I notived it was more sweet...no, no...it's not a maple sweet...more of a-- Alder wood. This creates a sweet yet woodsy taste and aroma. The cigar then began to spice up just a bit with hints of white pepper before mellowing out to a creamy woodsy finish.
I was completely suprised by this cigar and already plan on picking up a box on my return to the store.

I highly recommend this to you all. For those of you that prefer a mild smoke and aren't very sure about trying a medium bodied cigar...I suggest you give this one a try. This cigar can be enjoyed at any time during the day but I highly recommend that it be an early evening smoke. As for myself, this treat was enjoyed with a glass of Pinot Noir. I chose this type of wine because I hoped to encounter some wood and cocoa flavors...I have found that the fruit tastes in a good pinot helps to draw out the flavors of the cigar.
I hope you all enjoy this one as much as I did.
