Let me start by saying that I have my "search bar" force field up. So your "use the search feature" comments will be deflected and fall dead on the floor ;) But seriously, I did a search and didn't see the answers I am looking for. So please be kind.

So, to start off, apparently I have the privilege of living near an Opus X distributor that sells their sticks at a much lower price than most other shops. $15.00 a stick for most and $11.00 a stick for the Pussycats. So, in preparation of getting requests, I would like to get a few questions answered.

#1 - If I wanted to browse the forums and send a stick to people looking for one of these cigars, what would be a good number to send? I mean, I understand just one is being kind, but is it frowned upon to send only one? Or maybe gad luck, lol. You know what they say....all good things come in pairs :)

#2 - I am obviously not going to send each cigar in a humidor. So, what is the best way to mail these? Every time I buy a single stick from the lounge, they put them in a ziplock bag. Would this be a suitable way to mail a stick?

#3 - How do you normally pack it? Naturally it would need some sort of protection so it doesn't get crushed in the mailing process.

I know I had a couple more questions but they are escaping me right now and I really need to get to the gym. If I think of more, I will come back and edit this post.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the answer to 2 and 3, pinned in the lobby: Cigar Shipping 101

As far as question 1 - that's up to you. 1, 2, whatever. It's the thought that counts.

An old post circa 2004, now updated for 2010 :

I prefer to ship cigars individually bagged, and double boxed, via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.

Cost ( less than 1 LB / farthest postal zones ) :
$5.44 if postage paid online, with Delivery Confirmation
$6.25 via counter service at the post office, with Delivery Confirmation

The best ( ...and most cost effective! ) system I have found for shipping up to ten cigars:

* Order these Small Priority Mail boxes , free from the USPS.

* Order these Large Priority Mail boxes
, free from the USPS.

* Purchase bubble wrap and Ziploc baggies

( Anyone have a source for baggies like we once purchased from Veripak? )

*Individually bag / cello each cigar to protect from damage.

*Place individually bagged cigars into Ziploc bag

*Place bagged cigars in SMALL USPS Priority Mail box, along with with bubble wrap! ( Cigars should not move around in box - if so, add more bubble wrap. )

*Insert filled SMALL USPS Priority Mail box into LARGE USPS Priority Mail box.

*Seal well with packing tape.

* Print out USPS Priority Label with FREE delivery confirmation number here: Shipping Label

Estimated time in transit : 3-4 days

( An interesting side note...when I first posted this, circa 2004, the shipping cost was $3.85  )

In Russia, a Pair would mean you are wishing someone to die. Ok, that is for flowers and yes it is true. For cigars, send whatever you want. Its not about how many you send, but that actual act that you sent someone a cigar you think they would enjoy.

It is up to you but i always send a few other stick along with the one they want since i am aready paying the shipping, but there is no right or wrong it is your choose. know one would ever complain that you sent only one stick. I know i wouldn't ;) :D

This! I usually try to send 3-5 sticks (1 or 2 of what the person likes or wants, and then 1 or 2 others that I think they will like), as sending 1 or 5 cost the same.

It also depends on what the wallet feels comfortable with, if you can only afford to purchase/send 1 stick, send 1 stick...If you can afford to send more than 1 then you can do that also. I will generally try to send something that I already have in the humidor, that way I only have to pony up the $$$ for shipping.
