I can't remember the size I picked, but it was fairly large. It's called "Diez" or ten in spanish, the band looks kind of like an Opus, and it smells like an Opus, and it's a Dominican cigar.

It even tastes kind of like an Opus, and it has Opus beat in one category: nicotine strength. I've smoked LFD Dbl ligeros, Opus, and JdNics, and this is probably the strongest cigar I have ever smoked. If I had not been bustling about working on my wife's car in the garage I probably would have puked or passed out or something.

Burn was razor sharp, ash was nice and tight, draw great with a V-cut, could put it down for a few minutes and it would stay lit.

I forget exactly how much I paid, but I think it was about $12-13.

If I hadn't taken it apart I'd say it was worth it; this is certainly a premium cigar. But I have a habit of unraveling the butts, and the quality of the tobacco in this is not up to the standards of an Opus. Big, stick-like veins, mottled, greenish, spotted tobacco, and even a few loose pieces that were certainly not part of leaves that ran the length of the cigar.

Don't pay Opus prices for this cigar....I'd pay $6 if these fall on their face and they have to sell 'em on CBid or something, but I doubt that will happen.

I smoked a Litto Gomez Diaz Cubano ( robusto ) today while sitting outside a Starbucks. These run in the $9 range. I found it to be an excellent smoke. I really enjoyed it. I would not say that it is as powerful as the Opus but it is certainly up there in the flavor quality. I have no idea how much age was on this smoke but I was finding myself thinking about buying a box of them. These are certainly a top shelf smoke that you don't hear too much about. The more I smoke of the LFD or Litto Gomez lines the more impressed I am becoming. I now look forward to trying everything that this company has to offer. It is one of my new goals. :p

I've smoked 2 of the Diez now and was not impressed.I kept hearing about how strong they were but found them to be no where near the strength of an Opus. They had very little nose while Opus has a ton of nose. They also were not very complex, very little change while smoking it.I wouldn't be a buyer even at 6 bucks a stick, pretty boring smoke in my opinion.

I smoked the Chisel way back when they were first released. Was not impressed by either the flavor or the strength. Last Saturday, I smoked the corona gorda sized Diez. This cigar had better flavor than the first. There was some good leather notes with a bit of wood and some coffee. It was not overly complex, but a pleasant cigar. It was also pretty strong from a nicotine standpoint. Now, the construction was top notch. It burned perfectly, drew perfectly, never got hot. In fact, all of the LFDs that I have smoked recently have been excellently constructed.

Comparison to Opus? It is far from a clone. I think it is a decent cigar in its own right, but cannot be compared to Opus. The Opus X has much more pronounced flavors. The LFD Diez does not have the nose that the Opus has either. I just don't think the wrapper that they are using is as flavorful. I think it was stronger on the nicotine scale than the Opus, but then I've never thought Opus were strong...just full-bodied.

Now, if they took the same binder/filler blend in the Diez and slapped an Oscuros Natural wrapper on it...we'd be onto something.

I actually purchased another one of these (at a more resonable price) yesterday to try again. I can't wait to get over this cold and do some work in the garage (cos like I said I probably wouldn't want to smoke this cigar sitting still!)

How rare are these? Can you find good online deals on the cabinet thingies they come in?

Both stores in Richmond (Havana Connections and OVTC) have them at or within a few cents of retail. However, OVTC gets you with their taxes (they've programmed the register to charge the entire Tobacco Tax plus some to the customer). I don't have a problem with them charging the tax, but they shouldn't try to hide it. Anyway, back on subject. They seem to be less rare now than this time last year. I have not searched for them on line, but I'm sure that some of the better retailers have them.

I have to say that this is one of my top 10 favs.
I dont usually like real strong cigars, but there is something about the "LG" line that make me want to eat BBQ and smoke one! Perfect!..........
