Anybody have any preference on what to use to light a cigar?

Wooden matches (from CBid, I love that site)
Zippo lighter
Torch lighter

I used to smoke cigarettes so I have a few Zippo lighters but was able to pick up a couple of torch lighters really cheap and they seem to be holding up pretty good.

Somebody once told me never to use a Zippo...

Let the Zippo burn for a couple of seconds before it touches your cigar and you're fine IMO. I use nothing but a Zippo anymore.

Yeah, you got to be careful with a Zippo or you can make your cigar taste like lighter fluid. Let it burn first and don't actually hold the flame in direct contact with the foot. Hold it about 1/2 inch away and draw it in. Should be fine.

I've been using my Zippo with the torch insert lately. Love the size of the zippo. The insert is made by blazer. I had only used my zippo once before the transplant and I definitely tasted a difference. Considering I don't taste subtleties, I guess it was pretty strong.

I bought the insert here.
$13.95 shipping included.

Got a Zippo with a torch insert that my wife has appropriated when here at home. Finally got a Blazer (thanks to Craig's nagging. ) and use it almost exclusively now.
Lessee....a single flame nibu torch for cigarettes (filthy habit I know, hope to end this one soon. At least I smoke Sherman's), a Nibu triple flame torch, a little ASG pocket torch, a Solo dual flame, 2 xikar's, a xikar punch, a Havana case and cutter combo to get smokes to and from work, several single blade freebies, couple of dual blades....

Help me.........................................................................

If I'm inside, usually just use wooden matches. Otherwise, the Dupont Extend works nicely.

You just had to go and mention CBid didn't ya!. I received my last order and just couldn't believe that I got free matches from them. I don't know why, but I really like wooden matches. I guess I'm a cheapo in the regard that I absolutely hate to think of plopping down roughly $100.00 for a great lighter. A good cigar bar that I've been to has piles of matches and I collected them all since a smoking ban went into effect. It's nice to look at the matchboxes of various places, kind of a nostalgic thing I guess.

I'm kind of a lighter whore, my current lighters:

My home lighter, a Roburn MT-770 Micro Torch (froogle culinary torch to find 'em for ~$25) the Roburn is nicer than the "cartridge style" torches IMO.

Vector KGM Stratos: $20 retail

I have this Vector KGM Emperor on the way as of today. It merges 3 flames to get a nice broad flame.: $40 from bargainhumidors

I am going to order one or two of these Nibo VIP 1 lighters soon. They did a great job knocking off a St. Dupont: $15 bargainhumidors

I have a Colibri Quantum... a torch is the only way to go when you smoke on the porch in an Idaho winter!

I like torches personally but any flame will do in a pinch.

In a pinch.... sounds like a skoal ad.

I'm also in the same boat. I used a zippo forever, but it's broken and I really want is the Prometheus OpusX Gladiator S. It would match my cutter, but might be hard to find. If anyone has an idea to where I can find one, tell me quickly! lol. If not I'll probably buy a Prometheus Hammer lighter.

I love the Tabletop torches, will probably have a bunch of them in my "smoking room" when we buy a house... I still prefer a zippo on a non windy day

Zippo here as well, but only with the torch insert. I picked up a brass Zippo and often wonder what I like more, to fondle my cigars or the Zippo
