Well its been I while since the weather was decent enough for me to smoke. But today was high 40's and I planned on enjoying it. I suprised my wife at work and took her to lunch, on the car ride home my daughter fell asleep and is is still asleep at the moment.
Cigar: Liga Privada No. 9 Robusto 5 x 52
Pre-light: I picked this cigar, basically because I have only smoked one other and it seemed like it needed smoking. It was also to be my first decent cigar of 2009. The cigar was quite firm, with no obvious flaws in rolling. Dark in color and vein free wrapper that smelled of fine tobacco.
A quick snip with my new Palio Cutter (big thanks to Al and his crew) and it was time to settle in to my man cave. Which if you remember is a 2[sup]1/2[/sup] car detached garage with a gravel floor and a folding chair and table. Local talk radio was in the back-ground and I was enjoying a large steaming cup of fresh ground D.D. coffee.
The intial draw was a little tight and gave the flavours of tobacco and cocoa. Lighting went well, which was nice as I have been out of practice. First few puffs were extremely potent, but quickly settled down into mild pepper and leather.
After the first inch or so the cigar mellowed into smooth tobacco with just a hint of sweetness on the end. Smoke production wasn't as great I would have wished and the tight draw continued throughout.

Ash was a light whitish, grey and held for 2 inches without trying.
Conclusion: Well it was the first "good" cigar of 2009 for me. My palate seems to have grown a little dormant in the off-season, but on the whole the Liga proformed well. No major construction issues and I plan on visiting him again at various times this spring/summer.
