Vital Stats:
County: Nicaragua

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Brazil
Filler: Honduran & Dominican
This is my 1st tasting of a Liga Privada Robusto. I don't really ever smoke anything from Drew Estate, this is actually my 1st one in recent memory. But I have heard alot of good things and forked over the $9 to try one. At prelight this cigar had a strong maduro scent and a thick, dark oily wrapper. The label is pretty sweet looking too.
1st Half:
Very spicy and a little harsh upon lighting. Fortunately this dissipated after a couple of minutes and became a pretty smooth cigar. This cigar was medium - full bodied to me and produced nice volumes of smoke. It tasted primarily of leather, coffee and pepper. I found myself wanting to exhale through the nose, but it just wasn't to that level of smoothness. I could tell that this cigar was very well made with a perfect draw, and pretty even burn. The ash was light gray and held pretty well.
2nd Half:
This cigar was consistent throughout, except that the peppery taste became a bit accentuated during the second half. It did burn pretty hot at the end which made it difficult to nub. However, I was impressed by the fact that it stayed lit the entire time, and didn't require a single touch up. This cigar reminded me a lot of a La Riqueza, but unfortunately isn't any cheaper.
Verdict:
88/100. This is definitely a cigar worth trying, but at this price point I wouldn't buy a box. I don't smoke a ton of CT Boadleaf cigars, which may be why I wasn't overly impressed with this stick. It didn't strike me as something I would age long term either.
