La Flor Dominicana Lancero Oscuro Natural

A beautifully dark cigar that has the smell of roasted nuts coming off the foot and no cut was needed, simply pull the little pigtail and the cigar draws fine. The cigar was wet and kept going out on me. This was the only issued I had with during the smoke.

The taste is slightly subdued compared to the LFD Lancero and the finish has a nice sense of nuts to it. The smoke had a woody quality that was a little harsh. I felt completely fine smoking the cigar which had to be relit every time I set it down. When I finally let it die and walked in side I felt a tightness in my throat and was dizzy. I had to sit down and drink a cold glass of ice water to even myself out.

A good tasting cigar that deserves some time to dry out from its trip in my humidor before I smoke another one.

Well done. I've been waiting to see some reviews of these. I love the oscuro wrapper Litto is using on some of his other cigars and am looking forward to trying these. I am going to do a Lancero v. Lancero Oscuro faceoff and post the reviews.

Nice review of so sweeeet looking cigar

MT you know my feelings about this smoke.. I LOVE THEM...

I have heard from another that they need some age. Might be the way the Oscuro is made as to why they are too wet.

edit..Nice review and pics also...

These cigars are young; they were literally rolled a month ago or so.

I picked up a LFD Oscuro 6-1/2 today at the local B&M shop! Moki got me hooked on LFD. I will make sure I leave these in the humi for a while! :)

I just received a couple from Marc today and against my better judgment decided to smoke one tonight. I couldn't resist. It was extremely difficult to keep lit (that's being generous), but I knew that was the case going in.

That aside, what a wonderul cigar. As I have previously noted, I think the oscuro wrapper Litto is using on his cigars is fantastic. It has a sweetness to it, with just a dash of woody spice, that leave an indelible aftertaste. I have grown fond of the Churchill Especiales and the Oscuro cabinets for this reason.

I like the original version of the LFD Lancero, but adding the oscuro wrapper to it elevates my esteem for the cigar to new heights. Is it possible for a wrapper to make a blend even better than the original? My answer is in the affirmative.

I didn't find this version particularly as strong as the original Lancero, and to me that's just fine. Perhaps it's the sweetness of the oscuro wrapper that masks the strength (just my thoughts) and transforms it from a powerhouse stick to a full-bodied, full-flavored, balanced cigar.

I'll be adding a box to the humidor as soon as they are in stock (or as soon as Moki sends me his box :D ).

I am going to do a simultaneous, head-to-head review/comparison of the original lancero and the oscuro lancero when I get a couple of spare hours (which doesn't happen much with two kids). I'll be sure and post a running review and pics when I do.

First, I think both of the lanceros are fantastic... there's just something about that blend combined with the long, thin vitola that is just a wonderful thing. I actually find the LFD Lanceros to be less strong than the rest of the double ligero line, likely because there isn't as much ligero in 'em (it wouldn't burn well or taste enjoyable if there were).

The last Oscuro wrapper lancero I had was literally fresh off of the boat... and it was powerful. I wouldn't necessarily attribute that to the wrapper, but rather just because the cigars were so fresh. I'm betting all of these cigars were rolled around the same time period, so it makes sense that they've mellowed a bit.

Litto's doing some good stuff.

Why is it called "Oscuro Natural"? The wrapper looks really dark.

Interesting. That marketing has sucked me right into wanting one now.

Couldn't agree more!

Meant to post this here:

Smoked one of these bad boys tonight. Very nice cigar. Not a lot of complexity, but good flavors and solid all the way through. Earthy spice, some raisins/cherry at the beginning. Even burn. Good strength. Will be interested to see what these are like with some age, if I can wait that long.
