This is my first experience with the La Flor Dominicana Factory Press.

I've had other vitola's of the LFD and have always been happy with them and have gone back for more...but this one is special!!

Besides the fact that it is a monster...60 ring and about 6.5 inches...which is a little intimidating to me...I tend to like robusto's or corona's. It is (like said before, by Moki) like sticking a plank of wood in your mouth...very big cigar.

The appearance and construction of this monster were perfect. The wrapper was flawless and the cap was perfect. The box-press (hence the name) was into a perfect rectangle, somewhat like the Padron 40th, but much bigger. It is packed in the rack that it is pressed in...they take it from the press and put it into the box...nice presentation.

I cut the cap with my trusty Xikar and off it went smoothly.

The pre-light draw perfect. There was a slight spiciness to the taste which was kinda like a pepper/Tobasco flavor...like it!

Lighting this cigar took about an hour!!! It took to the flame nicely and fired up quickly...and exactly as I knew would happen...the spice started rolling in with the smoke. The first inch was as spice bomb...kinda like with the first few drags of an Opus X. Lots of smoke and plenty of jealous stares from the others who saw me pull this out of my pocket.

As I really got into this cigar, the spice began to change into a full-bodied smoothness that I haven't had in a long time. The balance was near perfect, the spice was still there but it mellowed out and let the other flavors come through. Those of the most dominant being strong coffee, light fennel, and tobacco. There was a hint of oakiness and the back ground of Tobasco...yet was very creamy smooth at the same time.

Through the middle third it stayed smooth and tasty and then into the last third it picked up the spice again and ran with strong spice until the last inch...still with the creaminess of before.

I believe that of all of the LFD Ligero line this was the nicest and smoothest of them all. I do have to say that since this was such a large cigar...I may not be smoking them as much as I want. It took too long for me...

But on the CI scale I have to give it a very real 90. I do believe that most of you here would agree. Fantastic cigar with a fantastic presentation.

Strongly recommended...

I've gotten my hands on two and the other is in the cooler. I smoked mine and noticed the full punch hit me at the end. Great smoke and HUGE indeed.

I was given a couple of these by a cigar shop to try. They are intimidating to say the least when you consider the power of the other Double Ligero cigars like the Chisel for example. This Factory Press just looks like it will kick your ass. It is huge. If it was round I would be afraid to let MattR near it. I have not tried one yet. Maybe I'll rent a good movie after a good meal and give it a try.

Thanks for the review. I have been interested to see one on this cigar. And I know that you have pretty similar taste to mine so I gather I will like this cigar.

Wow,

Fabulous review of a very intimidating cigar. Not quite in the gentle giant category, it seems to be in a class of its own. I'm afraid of the Chisels and cigars of that ilk but it sounds like this is something I might actually want to tackle.

"fennel" very cool!

Atuck...you will love this cigar...but your suggestion of a meal and a movie is spot on.

Ginseng...if the others have intimidated you, this one is relatively tame...but I do like stronger cigars...but this one is a big'un.

Say these in the Ridgewood b&m today and almost bit. (bought the 26 sampler instead). Now I am rethinking it. Thanks for the review.

I'm a LFD fan but haven't tried one of these, yet. If I can get my mind around the size, I might give one a try in the near future -- all because of the great review!

I love the LFD line of cigars, including the LG Diez. What was the wrapper on these, natural or oscuro?

You know what? I don't know...but I'm sure it was the oscuro (dark). Definetly not a natural wrapper.

They are definetly Oscuro.

The Press is a favorite of mine. They went quick at the store.
Very cool burning, and tons of smoke.
Alan you will like this cigar, not as strong as a LG, but has some of the same flavors.
I would give it an A or 90+ rating.

I can get lots and lots of them...this store has about 4 boxes of 120 cigars each...but you gotta pay Cali prices...$17 a piece.

I decided that I am going to give this one a try. Just ate at Johnny Carinos and am going to watch the movie "Hustle & Flow". I'll let you know how it went.

This cigar smoked very nice. A little easy on the draw for me but it did have excellent smooth flavor. Th movie is over now and I still have about 2 1/2" left. What a fat nub! I really enjoy the aroma this cigar puts out. It is very strong, however. Even after a good meal I still feel the effects of this monster pretty good. I'll go ahead and get it down to about an inch and call it a night.

Overall, I would say that this is an awesome smoke but still not for the light hearted.

I smoked mine first one when I heard about them from the Gang in KC. I then saved 2 in the humidor which they still look lovely next to the other LFD I have. They are really not that strong till the end. But then again, I always smoke on an empty stomach. Only way to truly enjoy a cigar IMHO. The DL Chisel is way more potent then the Factory Press so dont be shy. :D

Now I'm looking for the LFD lancero...that's the next "WANT"

I went back to that shop and bought a few more of these monsters. They were selling them for $14.99.

I'd love to get 2 of the Lancero's. 3 would be better so that I can smoke one and sit on the other 2. :)
