Some of you may have read in my other post that I just got a box of these (10) and a box of #3s in from the DR. Not really a local cigar like I was hoping for...but should work just fine. My wife teaches with a guy from the DR whom used to work at the Leon Factory (La Aurora), his uncle still works there. Appearantely they only sell this in the tourist area, so Im hoping I got some sort of deal (havent been given a price yet)
I lit the coals on my grille, had some chicken marinated in walkerswood jamaican jerk, and just cracked open a Breckinridge Oatmeal Stout...all those elements together, and I was forced to light one of these up, which is fine since Im not really saving them or anything.
I chose a #2 for the smaller size. The construction of these is beautiful, light brown creamy wrapper, very smoothe, slight veins. It litup perfect, draw was perfect, ash was perfect. Had the aroma and flavor that I remember from my trip to the DR last year, where I smoked my first stick. A nice mild smoke with what I thought was some decent flavor. I don't know what wood tasted like to so I can't compare it to that! But I was impress. In fact, I wish I could light one up right now in my cube.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the arrival of these, and will chalk these down as a future stick to purchase.
