I discovered we have a mutual friend and although Lee was quite busy with the show, he spent a lot of time talking to me which, based upon my knowledge of pipes, I considered an act of charity.

The show was at a non-smoking venue, which I always think is odd but probably all that is available so a few of us went out to smoke. Naturally, we talked about pipe tobaccos and which ones we preferred. Lee said his primary pipe tobacco was a fifty-fity mix of Mc Cleland 2010 and 5100 which if I understand it correctly are both Virginias one is a ribbon and the other is called Red Cake.

Well, nothing doing but we had to jump right on this and I can tell you something, Lee is right. That mix is damn good. It is pretty strong IMO but I really like full bodied cigars so it hits my taste profile nicely.

Lee has a webcam but it appears to be down at the moment.

Sounds like a neat encounter. I only have one experience with Virginias, I believe it was McClelland's No. 22. I really enjoyed it but I was hoping for something richer. I wonder if by adding the 5100 if that richness would be achieved? It might just be worth trying out. Thanks for the suggestion and for sharing your meeting.

PM with your address and I will send you a small sample.
