Coming into town Thursday! I've been to 3 of the last 4 myself. This year I think we are skipping the actual Big Smoke in lue of some of the herf's that happen on both nights. Let's try and get together for a quick drink and cigar if possible Greg! LMK
I'm thinking about going this year (at least one day) and was curious about how the event is setup. From what I can tell, there are various seminar events during the day and the exhibit hall is open it looks like in the evening? If you just buy a one day ticket, can you still attend the seminars during that day, or are you only allowed into the 6-9 pm event? Just wondering what to expect.
You have to buy the seminar ticket also! The Big Smoke is just the evening, Friday or Saturday. If you are going ... LMK when your arriving so we can try to hook up for 1 Burbon... 1 Scotch ... and 1 Beer!
Well, so I bit on the Big Smoke thing -- at, least for Saturday evening. I went ahead and bought a ticket and am waiting for my FedEx package.
The site says that for the $175 price, you get 20 sticks from various vendors. Historically, has this been a pretty good package of cigars? Is it usually pretty run of the mill stuff, or can I expect to get a few rare or exotic sticks?
Ohhh... you'll get more than 20 cigars! More like 30- 35 because most booths give out more than one. LAst year Montecristo gave out a 4 pack tin. Fuente usually gives out at least two. Some of the booths say if you bring me the butt of "our" smoked cigar... we'll give you another one. CAO is notorious for that. Plus I hear if you wear CAO SWAG to the Smoke ( hat, shirt, pin... ect.) you'll get there unrealeased smoke. I think Shadow posted this. As for rare exotic Fuentes like Mister Moki has aquired ... uhhh ... NO!
But there is plenty of free booze and food. The seating is very limited, probably 40 tables with chairs for 2000 people. This is so people will walk around and visit the displays and stuff. There are a ton of drawings for prizes. You'll love it. Only problem is the wait in line to get in. Go early .... like 2 hours before, seriously! Or you'll loose an hour just getting in. Bring yourself a couple 3 drinks to wait with as there is no bar or anything while your waiting.
Now ... when are you arriving in Vegas? I'll be there Thursday - Sunday morning. LMK.
I'm game for a get-together. It'd be great for any CP folks who are going to hook up. A buddy and I are going to make a roadtrip out of it, so well be getting in fairly late on Friday night and heading out Sunday morning. If you shoot me a PM or email, we can exchange cell numbers and try to see if we can connect. That'd be great!

Must be that great minds think alike Gawntrail -- just posted a review in a separate thread. BTW, Cohiba -- sorry I missed you on Friday night. We got in late (as anticipated) and I. unfortunately, printed the PM with your number and promptly left it sitting on the printer as I walked out the door. ???
