I have a question for the vendor regarding deals like this. I seem to see these posted on the board all the time: "5 (or 10) of (insert size here) cigars for $". My question is: Are these vitola samplers a huge hit? It is something I would never buy. For example, in the ten cigars above, there are two I would smoke. The rest I could care less about, and would never smoke. And I love the Lancero size. But for me this is a "two cigars for $70" deal.

Please let me make it clear, I am not criticizing the deal or the vendor here, I am just curious as to whether or not anybody shops for and buys cigars this way.

I would like to hear from the vendor specifically if these types of sales are a big hit on the boards.

I actually think that sampler is pretty good. People like these because maybe they haven't had the others to try, not everyone he has smoked everything. I would buy that sampler in a heartbeat if I wasn't so strapped.

Great question. I never really offered any samplers till I started posting on some of these cigar boards. I'd usually just post the special we run every week (Nub cigars this week....I know someone here must like em'). I've spoken with some members and with some other retailers and both told me sampler packs do real well. I've got to agree. We ran a 7-Cigar Lancero Sampler with free UPS Ground shipping a while back and did very well. I think one of the best sampler deals we ran was for a bunch of different Don Pepin packs. Anyone remember that one? Shipped out free Dunhill cutters with that deal.

I think, certainly, that if you've smoked all the cigars in this 10-Lancero Sampler and you know you only like two or three this is definitely not a good deal for you. However, if you haven't tried many of them, or you do like a majority in the pack, this is a great deal as the $70 price tag is about 23% off regular retail prices here in the shop. When you throw in free UPS Ground shipping I think it makes it a real good deal.

By the way, which cigars do you like in the sampler? Just curious.

I do like the brand-specific samplers. I bought a few of your Pepin samplers when you had them going (you did a Pepin Lancero sampler if I'm not mistaken?).

The LFD ain't strong enough for you? HOLY CATS! I haven't tried the Pepin or Joya lancero, but if they're stronger than the LFD, I'm going to wait.

The LFD is plenty strong for me, I just don't care for the flavor profile. It hits meet like a pretty straightforward of blast of tobacco without a lot of complexity. Just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure everyone else's mileage varies.

I have a friend who's name is Sean and I call him Seanholio all the time. That and Sean of the Dead. (-:
