Stopped by Pete's tobacco shop here in town with my buddy today. While we were looking through the humidor, I happened to see something that made me do a double take.
La Unica cigars in a box.....what? These are bundle sticks, aren't they? Yet there before me was an actual box of La Unica cigars. Then as I looked closer, I see the word Cameroon on them. Not sure if these are new or if I had not been paying attention before, but I had to try one. I made my purchase and walked to the lounge to enjoy this new cigar.
The pre-light aroma was the nice sweet tobacco scent I have come to enjoy in a cameroon wrapper. Construction was very nice, no large veins at all. Gave it a cut with my new fancy Palio cutter (thanks Mark!) and gave it a draw, which was near perfect. Gotta love the way the Fuente's make their sticks.
After a toasting and light, the flavor was somewhat bland on the first couple puffs. After another minute, the cigar picked up in flavor and body. Nice and creamy, sweet with a hint of spice to make it interesting. This is a medium body stick and the flavor was pretty much the same all the way down. Hints of sweet or spice would come foward every now and then and would fade back into the balance after a puff or two.
Burn was perfect all the way down. No touch ups were needed and lots of smoke was produced, making this a very relaxing smoke.
If you are looking for a nice smoke that is not too complex, give this one a try. Good flavor and a great way to relax after a somewhat stressful day at work.
